Not too long ago, a Non-Governmental Organization representative from Cameroon stood in the United Nations General Assembly and stated with naked ferocity: "Our enemy is individual freedom!"
It is, at least, a frank admission and an honest challenge to Sir Winston Churchill's belief that the "common denominator in the history of the English-speaking peoples is individual freedom."
Cameroon's radically Marxist NGO spokesman unwittingly gave us the formula for defeating our Marxist/Leninist enemies and their liberal, federalist sympathizers. What they're aiming to dismantle is the American Republic. All they need to do, they figure, is squeeze it into the framework of an increasingly powerful socialist federation run by the United Nations. So far, they've done a pretty good job.
The leftist Organization for Educational Resources and Technological Training (a global NGO network) held an assembly in Montreal in 2002. Guess who the keynote speaker was -- Bill Clinton. Yes, the former U.S. President and Godfather of worldwide socialist federations.
In my travels to film locations, I see an increasingly widespread acronym used: C.O.W. I've seen it on cigarette lighters made in Red China and on the awnings of franchises like Cow Ice Cream. Ties are made with cows on them and worn by employees of Marxist shops; bronze bovines sit on the streets of the cattle town of Calgary to remind the Conservative Party who's really in charge.
C.O.W. stands for "Communists Own the World." That, as far as I'm concerned, is chickens before they really hatch. S.O.W. – Socialists Own the World -- is much closer to the truth. It's also a more applicable self-image.
I was gratified to see an American response to such symbolism in Providence, Rhode Island (where I shot scenes for the film Swimming Upstream). On the streets are potato heads, wrapped in the American flag and flashing nice sets of teeth. It doesn't take long to imagine the Cows wandering through a field and having their udders bitten off by a herd of angry Spuds.
"Don't tread on me."
That was the defiance of the first flag of the American Revolution: it sported a snake as the image of the 13 colonies. Being Irish-American, I much prefer the potato soldier. That's my kind of civilian militia. Which brings me to the best strategy left to wriggle out of the hammerlock that socialist federalism has the American Republic in. The freest continent, North America, must conceive of itself as the home of 330 million individual nation-states.
I've lived my life with the certainty that, after God and Mother Earth, there is nothing more powerful in the universe than the free, unique and independent human being. History has been largely a record of the directions certain enlightened or benighted individuals have taken, followed by the multitudes later on.
The magnetism of Marx's Das Kapital has more to do with the blatant, urban display of have and have-nots during the Industrial Revolution than any true eloquence in the diatribe itself. The Communist Manifesto provided a quick but impulsive fix to the inevitable growing pain of capitalist expansion. Without the Industrial Revolution we would not now have the liberating Micro-computer Revolution, which has empowered individuals with instant access to every major library in the world.
Since the Devil has always been marked by his impatience, Communist dictators -- from Lenin to Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe -- have been regularly showing up to fill the power vacuum of a community that proclaims God has made such a sorry mess out of the human race that it's better to believe He never existed in the first place.
The Almighty, I firmly believe, has a big surprise in store for these "enlightened despots." Their increasingly messianic presumptions will lead to the final stage of their atheism, which is nihilism, as described by their Maoist comrade, the existentialist philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre. In such a godless intellectual universe, there is neither good nor evil, there just is. "La vie est nausée." (Life is nausea.) "L'enfer, c'est les autres." (Hell is other people.)
Engulfed by such atheistic misery, the Marxist utopianists are courting suicide. As surely as Al Qaeda's zealots flew commercial planes into the Twin Towers, the entire leftist church – reform, orthodox and communist zealots alike – will destroy their own tower of Babel with their evil delusions.
Filling the power vacuum left by a murdered God are the likes of Osama bin Laden who thinks he has his god Allah sewn into the hem of his robes. There's Joseph Stalin who purged the cream of his military at Lubyanka Prison because they didn't agree with him, and Mao Ze Dong who starved 30 million Chinese to death in his Great Leap Forward. Following in Mao's footsteps, Pol Pot made horrifying history with his killing fields. Today, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il (after burning his generals alive in a public stadium) lets his people starve while he develops nuclear missiles for use against Japan and the United States.
After dispossessing white farmers of their land in Zimbabwe, Mugabe is enforcing an agricultural policy that creates famine. To this club of communist psychotics, the freedom of individuality is just another "opiate of the masses."
Power corrupts and the potential power of a leader of a socialist federation is not only a government of diminishing returns, but also a creeping dictatorship kept benign by liberals such as Pierre Trudeau and Bill Clinton but quickly turned malignant by the likes of Fidel Castro. The drift from sham democracy to communist tyranny is a thoroughly predictable political devolution.
Federalism necessitates the immediate transformation of individual humans into numbers and statistics. A worldwide federalist body such as the UN views the combined death tolls brought on by genocide and ethnic cleansing as a welcome reduction in the global population. The UN's stated intent is to encourage a drastic reduction in the population of the Third World. Even the UN's vaunted peacekeeping self-image has proven more of a psychological torture chamber for brave Canadian soldiers in Africa and the former Yugoslavia. The UN wasn't really interested in ending the slaughter, only in managing it. Lump this criminal neglect into the UN's other favorite euphemism -- population control -- and you have the smell of tyrannical indifference to life, liberty and freedom.
I'm building a third, hopefully mainstream political party: The Realists. A third point of view is an absolute necessity to deal with America's gradual absorption into socialism's hegemony. The only recent and healthy presidential debate was when independent candidate Ross Perot and his Reform Party were there to ask a few hard questions and make edifying observations, back in the 1992 and 1996 U.S. presidential campaigns.
The Democratic and Republican parties have neglected some of the major building blocks to freedom contained in the U.S. Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights. In forthcoming editorials, I will endeavor to show why and how a bipartisan power-sharing plan has been devised in order to enable the slow and barely discernible transformation of our American Republic into a socialist federation.
As for becoming a presidential candidate in 2008, yes, I will throw my hat into the ring. I'm well aware that the founders of third political parties always prove to be their creation's greatest liability when they run for the presidency, but I'm declaring my candidacy anyway and would appreciate help from serious conservatives reading this editorial and agreeing with the opinions stated therein.
Until 2008, then, I shall play a cross between Ross Perot and Pat Paulsen and endeavor to enjoy myself along the way, while engaging voters in debate on the real issues now challenging the freedom and integrity of the American Republic.
It was either that or cut the grass.

There's not much room for realism in our political system, although there's a crying need for a real third party -- on the right.
I've voted for third parties - no, not Perot! - and assorted write-in candidates over the years. A problem, it seems to me, is that third parties tend to attract some profoundly strange folks who scare other people. I think it's interesting that the Libertarian Party has actually lost influence and votes, at least at the national level, over the years. Maybe it's an atypical experience, but when I run into a libertarian, it's much more likely that he'll start talking about drug legalization than curbing big government. That ain't gonna make it in Peoria.
I thought Klintoon was the last actor in the White House. But I get your point.

Of course he was acting, nobody is that phony is real life.
In fact his little finger pointing skit in his video deposition to Ken Starr was Academy Award stuff. And no one has ever topped the 'definition of is, is' in the annals of Hollywood screenwriting. The only problem was that the Academy doesn't have a category for;
"Leading Men Who Are Narcissistic Sociopath Perverts And Play One In Real Life".
(but I hear Warren Beatty wants to change that)
