This tragicomic incident provided more ammunition to those who believe America needs a different, more singer-friendly song, such as "America the Beautiful" or "God Bless America," as its anthem....How about God Bless the U.S.A. by Lee Greenwood?

The Star Spangled Banner fits the US to a tee. It's a quirky, hard to sing, rabble rouser with roots in good fellowship (drinking). Toward the end we bare our teeth, a timely warning to those licking their chops in the shadows. If you think about the US state of affairs during the War of 1812, it suited us well, as it does today. PC fools want to shove it under the bed and substitute a 'nice' anthem. Well, we live in a dangerous neighborhood and what Uncle Sam whistles when he leaves the house is important.

'Happy Birthday' is hard, too.

Wasn't that something at the National Cathedral after 9/11! Not a dry eye in the house.

Hell no don't change the national anthem. The Star Spangled Banner is still the most inspirational song we have.

I especially like the 4th verse of the Star Spangled Banner, if for no other reason than it gets in the face of the ACLU.

The national anthem has a killer range. It goes from very low notes, to very high notes. It takes a skilled singer to truly do it justice, especially with thousands of people listening, and nerves takes over.

Well, a few days later, she sang it flawlessly on national TV in the US ... Good Morning America I believe.
