KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan women are in constant risk of abduction, rape and forced marriage and the government is doing little to address their plight, the human rights group Amnesty International said in a report released Monday, 3 1/2 years after the ouster of the hardline Taliban regime.
A spokeswoman for the Afghan Women's Affairs Ministry, Nooria Haqnagar, acknowledged that abuse was still rife and said, "In some remote areas, men deal with women like animals."
In its report, Amnesty called on the government and the international community to do more to improve the lives of women.
"Throughout the country, few women are exempt from violence or safe from the threat of it," the London-based organization said in its report.

Yeeehhaaww they're finally catching on....
You see? I didn't even have to read the whole thing to know that they needed to blame US, and make no mistake, its US they are after. Liberal organization didn't give a damn about pre-U.S. Afghanistan and Iraq. Only when we come in does it start running its mouth. Calls for the "international community" to improve the IMPROVED lives of woman, give me a flying break.
Wonder what's happening in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan, Ethiopia, Algeria, Indonesia, Morocco, Tunisia,....???
Afghanistan women have it the worst
Women are incredibly tough creatures and
harder to kill than men (medically speaking)
And Afghanistan is the only country wil a higher mortality
rate in women than men...

Amnesty International can shove it........
Wow, lets thank old AI for that news flash, huh?
:P
I'll second that!
...the hood?
News flash to Amnesty International...
*** THAT IS OLD NEWS ***
Fundamentalist Islam is opposed to women's rights to equality. We destroyed the fundamentalist Taliban regime, and in doing so we have set the stage for a greater role for women in the Afghan society.
But Rome wasn't built in a day, and social change takes generations, not 3 1/2 years. Yet, without the Freedom our country purchased in blood, and the aid provided by our many allies in Afghanistan, that social change would be impossible, and women would suffer the small mindedness of extremist Islam, rather than have the hope that their daughters and granddaughters will live in an Afghanistan where Freedom and Liberty will reign for all Afghan men and woman alike.
I wonder why they aren't focusing on the treatment of women in the Palestinian Territories, which is far worse than Afghanistan... Hmmmm.....
And Amnesty International and the rest of the leftist elites would continue to say and do nothing while the honor killings, the genital mutilations, the gang rapes and the beatings went on and on and on without any hope of change.
Hmmm...Sounds like a job for The Second Amendment Sisters.
