Sounds like fun but I'd want some kind of "athletic supporter" protection, just in case those catfish aim a little high...that's not the sort of "noodling" I have in mind, if you know what I mean.
I would worry about a Snapping turtle biteing off my "noodle" while diving under those muddy waters.
The Missouri Noodling season is a joke, most of the waters in the state are off limits.
The old timers that "noodled" where I was raised said snapping turtles burrow head first, so there is little danger of their snapping you. Those guys would "noodle" for snappers.
Of course they also told me that it paid to know the difference between the bumps on the front and rear of a turtle shell.
never, ever, go skinny noodling.
I used to catch smaller snappers in farm ponds in Kansas
by feel with my bare feet . When I think of doing that now
I just have to shake my head.....
Somehow I always managed to grab um by the tails !
"I know of a Chinese roadside cafe in Bangkok that once had...
"Fried Children" on the menu."
lots of funny typos on Thai menus...... ;^)
The best noodling spots are definitely not on the list. Of course, those of us who have been doing it for years aren't too concerned with the list anyhow...I finially got my first 100+ pound flathead two days ago. She was a monster! And, to who it may concern, I am an intelligent, rational, responsible, mostly law abiding individual, who happens to enjoys a good time noodling on occasion. I am not a redneck!
