Don't clean your hands with rubbing alcohol before trying to drive.

The more I read about new technology the more I want to keep my '93 Nissan truck running. 268K miles and going strong.

And, when I put cologne on my hands before I run out to the car...?

sounds like a pretty good idea, I'm sure the ACLU and the alcohol companies would fight it vigorously, but something like this really should be in every vehicle.

What if the driver is sober and starts driving then starts drinking? Does the car shut off just as the now drunk driver is sitting in front of a speeding locomotive filled with nuclear waste?

Maybe this guy could come up with a way to retrofit all Korans so they explode whenever they are touched?

the breathalizer version of this idea just makes it so you can't start your car, there are random tests as you are driving, if you fail the test several times, when you stop you will not be able to restart your car. This article says this device would stop the car from running, I don't think we will ever see a device like this as mandatory, but people who get multiple DUI's get these things put on their cars, and I have heard of parents installing them to stop teenagers from drinking and driving.

There ya go! Send him to Iraq and if you have explosive residue on your hands, your suicide car won't start. The Koran could be treated simiarly.

It will never happen, my point is that it would be good if drunk people couldn't drive, thats all...

I hate to be the one to defend drunk people; but, have you MAD freaks ever bothered to consider that we already have ample laws on the books to deal with vehicular manslaughter, driving infractions, and civil damage. This kind of targeted harassment is un-American; it is just an expensive back door approach to restoring prohibition in support of a bunch of arrogant goons.

no problem...I drink like a fool so it was funny getting accused of being in MAD...the old line comes to mind..DAMM, Drunks Against Mad Mothers.I know something like this thing will never happen, but you do have to agree that drunks who get behind the wheel are dangerous. I absolutely will not drive if I am drinking, I got a DUI over 10 years ago and learned my lesson, I only drink when I get home and do not drive.

Most people install a custom steering wheel wrap or cover on the wheel for comfort and for different gripping abilities. This would reduce this thing to useless.
