In Catholic, Orthodox and (I believe) Lutharan tradition, the "ark of His covenant" is a direct referrence to Mary. Interesting. I think the bible is referring directly to the ark of the covenant when it says the ark of the covenent. :-)

Rev 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in Heaven, and there was seen in His temple the ark of His covenant, His covenant in the NT is Christ; therefore, the ark is Mary.
