As it happens, this case has simply gotten more publicity than other similar ones (although your previous example of the man who got 31 years for smuggling 300lbs vs. her 9lbs is not a valid comparison, in my opinion). Most people are probably not aware of the extent of the harsh realities of the WoD, both here and abroad, so they show no outrage until a story like this is made so public. If that makes you angry, you can blame it on the media who only choose to make a big deal out of a case involving a young beauty from Australia rather than reporting on all such cases with such fervor.
