Yes, good point. I was getting my hair cut the other day, and even the 18 year old hairdresser mentioned that she had seen the Movie "Midnight Express" and realized how bad time in a foreign jail would be. I'm sure Shapelle had seen a lot of movies in her time, but hubris brings may people down.
As Confucius say... "Young woman with many years of always getting what she wants and manipulating situations around her for her own advantage, and who also is charming may have overreached this time."
The networks should show Midnight Express at least once a year as a public service. Young Americans traveling abroad should know the problems they would face if they break foreign laws.
We don't know if this woman was set up or not; maybe her traveling companions set her up and she was naive and in over her head.
