"People like Maher and Penn live in a pseudo-world of self-indulgence, makeup and mirrors."

so true....
I used to like Bill Maher , he was a crack up
Now he is not funny anymore , just pathetic .
I pass his show by as I surf the late night channels
every time.

and when he gave Coco the boot...that was really the last straw ;^)

Officer Grist has a good reason sufficient unto himself to maintain his anger for these 30-plus years. If it satisfies his emotional needs then I support him in the projection of that anger.

On the other hand, as a Viet Nam vet and the recipient of a couple of pieces of 37mm AAA as part of my experience there, I have subjectively chosen to abandon the initial anger I felt on my return to Tocoma, Washington and the trip home for leave when I too was confronted and yelled at by protestors (I did not change into civilian clothes before reaching McChord AFB from Hawaii). Purely for my own peace of mind and Christian-based learnings that were important to me then, and still are today, my reaction has been different than Officer Grist. I am comfortable with my decision to leave that category of anger out of my life and I hope Officer Grist is equally content with his contrary decision.

Bill Maher is simply an entertainer and, with the Army missing its enlistment goals by 40% during the past months, the current retention and enlistment situation isn't a pretty sight. I think that's what he was referring to. It may not be funny, but it may be a commentary.

His parents may owe us an apology, all we have to do is find them. Maybe the AKC can give us a hint on where to find his mother.

I watch him on Larry King for a few minutes when he's on sometimes and Maher astonishes me with his Accepted Wisdom disguised as Original Thought.
