Tearing Hatred Apart (The Protocols of the Elders of Zion)
The Dallas Morning News ^ | May 28, 2005 | Jeffrey Weiss

Last week, the Palestinian Authority made headlines in Israel when it deleted from its Web site a link to a notorious anti-Semitic tract.

The same century-old tract is the target of the last major book by the late Will Eisner, the inventor of the graphic novel. It's the subject of a documentarythat debuted this year at the Sundance Film Festival. And it's inspired a new satire of anti-Semitism by two editors of Heeb, the Jewish humor magazine.

What is it about an old, bigoted screed that merits such attention?

The Protocols of the Elders of Zion has been the Jew-hater's main manifesto for more than100 years.

The Protocols purports to be the minutes of a clandestine meeting of Jewish leaders near the end of the 19th century.

The book claims that these Jewish conspirators are planning to take over the world through secret control of the media, manipulation of the money supply and domination of all governments. (Plus, they're going to institute such "ultramodern" reforms as universal suffrage, a minimum wage, part-time legislatures, and a mandatory retirement age of 55 for judges. The conspirators would also ban drunkenness and use sports and entertainment as wildly hyped distractions.)

The book is a total fraud. First published in 1902, it was plagiarized, scholars say, from sources that originally attacked the Masons, Jesuits and Napoleon III of France.

Even though research debunking The Protocols is almost as old as the book itself, the danger it poses is absolutely current, said David Cook, an assistant professor of religious studies at Rice University. Dr. Cook, who has spent the past four months in Africa studying Islam, has found The Protocols to be "wildly popular" there.

A History of 'The Protocols'

1864 French satirist Maurice Joly publishes Dialogues in Hell Between Machiavelli and Montesquieu, attacking Napoleon III.

1868 A German anti-Semite, Hermann Goedsche, steals from Mr. Joly's material for a series of novels. Under the name "Sir John Retcliffe," he writes of a secret rabbinical conference at a Prague cemetery.

1898 Russian monarchists pay a propagandist to forge a document blaming Jews for supporting modernization. Mathieu Golovinski uses the works of Goedsche and Joly to create The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

1905 First public release of The Protocols

1919 First German translation published

1920 Winston Churchill, then a member of Parliament, is quoted in a newspaper article about The Protocols. He blames Jews for "this worldwide conspiracy for the overthrow of civilization ..."

1921 Henry Ford publishes The Protocols in his Dearborn, Mich., newspaper.

First Arabic and Italian translations published

And unwittingly set the stage for the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. Ironically, when the State of Israel was declared in 1948, it put in motion the beginning of the end of the Soviet Union. All the Zionists ever wanted was a home.

Could you elaborate?

Now imagine Dan Rather saying, "Fake but accurate."

Never bothered to read it myself. A more egregious WOMBAT could hardly be found.

I thought it was obvious. The Jews in the Russian Pale hated the Czar. The more pogroms and propaganda that the Russian monarchy directed at the Jews in Russia, the more likely that those same Jews would revolt at the first chance. In 1917 that chance came and they took it.

Putting aside the fact that "Russian Pale" were the regions outside of Russia proper (in former Polish territories where Jews were allowed by Poland to immigrate) and Jews over there did could not do much, are you saying that Bolshevik Revolution was a revange for the Protocols?

I found this interesting:
"In addition, it is possible to buy antisemitic literature in Minsk and other cities from private businessmen who bring it from Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and Petersburg. This literature includes newspapers (Limonka, Shturmovik, Duel, Zavtra, etc.), and books (Debate About Zion by Douglas Reed, Trial Of the Academician by V. Korchagin, The International Jew by Henry Ford, Notes About Ritual Murders by V. Dal, and Protocols of the Soviet Elders by G. Klimov)."

An updated 'Protocols', sales of which are used to criticize Belarus, is written by a dissident immigrant former CIA employee who lives in the US?

1970: KNJAZ MIRA SEGO

I have read this book. It was quite entertaining with the humorous and surprising turns. Some good insights into sick mindset of the revolutionaries and progressives.

I find his bio completely suspect. How could he move to the US, work for the CIA, yet provide lectures to the KGB nomenklatury just before perestroyka?

I think it's embelished a bit.

Read Knyaz Mira Syego (The Prince of this World). It is all explained there :) A must read!

I downloaded it, but I'm still hesitating. This isn't another one of those "Read Slobovitch's 5000-page novel in the original Etruscan and you'll clearly understand the didactic proletariat" scams, is it?

So far, so good.

Chapter 1. Quiet Angel

Having eyes do you not see?
Having ears do you not hear?
Mark 8:18

When Maxim Rudnev was a boy, this still before the revolution, before bed his mother made him pray to God. Maxim indifferently murmured 'The Lord's Prayer', but later made a personal request to God: "Dear God, please make me big and strong. Because yesterday Fedka Kosoy caught me again in the next commons and beat me up. Make it so that I can beat up everyone. So that with only my left hand, with one little pinky."

He repeated this request after every fight with Fedka Kosoy, who lived in the neighborhood and was considered the most acknowledged hooligan in the entire region. After thinking awhile, Maksim offered in a whisper this exchange:

"If you'd like, God, you can shorten my life a little bit..."

But in Boris, who was born after revolution, already from childhood was displayed a more practical approach to life. If he hadn't eaten everything on his plate, his mother would say very seriously:

"Bobka, look at what you left on your plate - that's your strength. If you don't eat, later the girls will all beat you up." The little boy believed this and was ready to lick the plate clean and bust a gut, just so the girls weren't stronger than him. The habit of cleaning his plate stayed with him his whole life.

I should have the rest done in, say, 40 years...

Who is the 'they' that tried to take away Henry Ford's company?

Back in the 1920s-1930s I suppose plenty of the upper-crust Mayflower types were anti-Semitic. It was the era for that, for some reason.

That the Palestinians and other Moslems haven't left 1939 doesn't surprise me.

Hey, A. Pole, I just notice that Klimov's homepage has a link to Radio Islam on it. I guess I won't figure out the mysteries of the universe by reading more from the man.

are you saying that Bolshevik Revolution was a revenge for the Protocols?

No. You're the one making that assumption. The "Protocols" were merely another injury piled upon others committed by the Czar.

Look, I have no agenda here, either pro or anti Semitic, pro or anti Russian, only historical. That the Bolshevik Revolution was also a "Jewish" Revolution is not an unaccepted fact of history. The sad result is that it accomplished the exact opposite of the American Revolution. The AR overthrew a monarchy, King George III, to replace the vacuum with as little government and as much liberty as possible. The BR overthrew the monarchy of Czar Nicholas II, only to replace a brutal aristocracy with a totalitarian government and less liberty than under the Czar.

OK, then I do not understand what you are saying. Didn't you say that The Protocols "unwittingly set the stage for the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution"? How could it be?

The BR overthrew the monarchy of Czar Nicholas II,

IMPORTANT correction! The Bolshevik Revolution did NOT "overthrow the monarchy of Czar Nicholas II". It overthrew the Weimar Republic style pro-Western government.

Tsar under the pressure from the reformist elites, students and Western governments abdicated in the beginning of 1917. This created the opening for the genocidal movement of Lenin, Trotsky and Dzierzhinski to take over.

Later only Bolsheviks murdered Tsar and his family, fearing that the Russian population might ask Tsar to return to his throne.

I think the reason many Jewish intellectuals were involved in Bolshevism was that they were intellectuals, period.

Intellectuals should never be allowed out of the house without supervision.

Someone much smarter than me said:

...there is more than enough dirt in it to smear everyone within half a mile.

Communist revolution in Russia was prepared, organized and led mostly by previously oppressed ethnic minorities of all kinds - Latvians (Latvian Rifles, Cheka people like Peters), Poles (Dzerzhinsky, Menzhinsky from that same Cheka), Jews (Trotsky, Kamenev, Zinoviev), Georgians (Stalin, Ordzhonikidze) etc.

...these "natzmeny" (ethnic minorities) were grossly overrepresented, especially in security apparatus, as if there were an affirmative action program for their benefit. This is easily understood, for the revolutionaries had to come from the ranks of disaffected, and there were proportionally more of these among the previously oppressed minorities. Past history of struggle and suffered repression made these minority functionaries appear more reliable and thus more employable in the apparatus of the communist state. Their vengefulness was also useful. "Kto byl nichem, tot stanet vsem" - and he will be very zealous in guarding his new position.

Later, the regular majority nationalism reasserted itself in Stalinist purges and a semblance of proper 'balance' was restored.
