About a dozen years ago, there was an interesting book titled "The Gray Eagles". It was about a group of ex Luftwaffe pilots who resurrected ME109's in the middle of the western US desert with mayhem on their agenda.

Read it, loved it, still have it, gonna get out and read it again. Thanks for reminding me.

Another good book that came out around the same time was Flight of the Old Dog. About a B-52 made stealthy going on a mission into the USSR.
