So how fast and manueverable were these babies? I know they actually saw action in WWII but there were too few to have any effect.

And are any actual 262s stil flying? I take it these are reconstructions, right?

Gorgeous planes. And what about the ME 163?

Yeah it's cool. Wish I was in your shoes. I'd love to see it up close. My uncle tried to catch one when he was flying P-51's during the war. Didn't know what in the hell it was, "but it sure was fast!"

Goering's on the phone to Freiburg
Say's Willie's done quite a job
Hitler's on the phone from Berlin
Say's I'm gonna make you a star

My Captain Von Ondine, here's your next patrol
A flight of English bombers across the canal
After twelve, they'll all be here
I think you know the job

They hung there dependant from the sky
Like some heavy metal fruit
These bombers, ripened, ready to tilt
Must these Englishmen live that I might die
Must they live that I might die

In a G-load disaster from the rate of climb
Sometimes I'd faint and be lost to our side
But there's no reward for failure, but death
So watch me in the mirrors, keep in the glidepath

Get me through these radars, no I cannot fail
Not when great silver slugs are eager to feed
I can't fail, no not now
When twenty five bombers wait ripe

They hung there dependant from the sky
Like some heavy metal fruit
These bombers, ripened, ready to tilt
Must these Englishmen live that I might die
Must they live that I might die

Me-262 prince of turbojet, Junker's jommo 004
Blasts from clustered R4M quartets in my snout
And see these English planes go burn
Now you be my witness how red were the skies
When the fortresses flow, for the very last time
It was dark over Westphalia, in april of T45

They hung there dependant from the sky
Like some heavy metal fruit
These bombers, ripened, ready to tilt
Must these Englishmen live that I might die
Must they live that I might die

Must these Englishmen live that I might die
Junker.s jommo 004 (repeat many times)
Bombers at 12 o'clock high

And what about the ME 163?

Seems I saw a site that was making reproductions of
those too, none flying as yet I think.

Not using T-stoff etc, but modern propellents.

Fast for the period. There are no original Me262's flying. The real ones are too scarce. These examples are pretty much authentic, down to the nut and bolt recreations with a few changes (improvements) made for safety. The engines are not the original Junkers units. They are modern G.E. engines that have been shrouded with facades that mimic the appearance of the originals.

The Me 163 was a death trap and will not be flying again anytime soon.

Goreous planes. And the guys rebuilding them will be smart enough, unlike Adolph, to let them fly unburdened by heavy (and useless) bombs.

There were a couple of old jets flying out of the Arlington airport back in the mid '80's. I thought someone said they were originally Spanish WWII jets of some sort. Did you ever happen to see those?

Cool (funny) clip from the movie "Nightflyers" of a Russian girl in a Yak-9U shooting down a Me-262...(apple quacktime required)

If anyone finds a good video clip of the new 262 flying let me know (no 2 second clip stuff)

Here's an example of a "good" video clip..the new FW-190a8 in Germany making it's maiden flight in July, 2004

...shrouded with facades...

Is Bill Clinton somehow involved with this?

Too Cool! Though I think they used to throw compressor blades etc., so maybe I won't buy one right away.
