Re: Frist - Remember during the 2000 primaries - Bush was blindsided by McCain - and Bush did the unthinkable - he fought back. McCain's intimidation did not work on Bush - and I guess we'll see if it works on Frist.
I'm not willing to sell out Frist just yet.
"I'm not willing to sell out Frist just yet."
My comments didn't mean to "sell out" Frist now, or ever.
I mentioned he could regain some power and influence, if the chance to vote rules change comes along, and he handles it well.
But my view of him is that he falls short, on leadership. He has not proven himself to be Presidential material.
Besides, there are better choices on the possibles list. Allen, to name one.
I see the episode as an early skirmish between McCain and Frist. I certainly don't want McCain to be the 2008 nominee, but he is free to play it his way (which he did).
Judgeships are TOO important for Republicans to fail to be united. McCain is wrong, to play his game on them.
But now everybody has to play this hand, this deck through to the end.
Drudge is claiming McCain is supporting Bolton. He may have the standing to get credit for that, too, in the public's mind.
We are watching the major league sausage makers at work. I find politics interesting to observe, for the long pull.
