Thanx for the verses and the thank you, j_.

Rod, there was no crisis. W's bus blew right past the donor's factory, the people waiting eagerly to meet him, the high school kids, the VN vet with his scrapbook... The SS was there for 2 walk thrus over 2 days, they got an early am call to set the time and then the bus just rolled on by. It took 2 emails and several calls to a cell phone answering machine to get any response and after the advance guy did apologize (in a surly sort of way, I was told), there was no follow up to me at all. To add insult to injury, it was the jilted donor who had found the ideal farm for the visit that did happen and did the national media PR....and this farmer was NOT A REPUBLICAN! He probably voted for Kerry. Meanwhile, I had worked for 6 months to bring the factory owner around from the CP to the GOP.

I kept my mouth shut til now. I have said nothing locally, although I did vent to the regional head of Michel's campaign about our then Party Chair, only to be coldly told they were best friends (figures). When I mentioned how the RNC had publicly withdrawn funds from Michel weks before the election, then reinstated a small amount of funds a few weeks later, she just kept telling me how the polls showed Michels had the election won. That, of course, was a lie.

No one seems to care. The previous County Party Chair was a leftie who joined the GOP in order to run for office. He was the worst DA we ever had. I wrote to the RNC. I knew this guy from my own left wing days 35 years ago. No one did squat.

It is beyond betrayal. It borders on the surreal.

A VALEDICTION FORBIDDING MOURNING.
by John Donne

AS virtuous men pass mildly away,
And whisper to their souls to go,
Whilst some of their sad friends do say,
"Now his breath goes," and some say, "No."

So let us melt, and make no noise, 5
No tear-floods, nor sigh-tempests move ;
'Twere profanation of our joys
To tell the laity our love.

Moving of th' earth brings harms and fears ;
Men reckon what it did, and meant ; 10
But trepidation of the spheres,
Though greater far, is innocent.

Dull sublunary lovers' love
—Whose soul is sense—cannot admit
Of absence, 'cause it doth remove 15
The thing which elemented it.

But we by a love so much refined,
That ourselves know not what it is,
Inter-assurèd of the mind,
Care less, eyes, lips and hands to miss. 20

Our two souls therefore, which are one,
Though I must go, endure not yet
A breach, but an expansion,
Like gold to aery thinness beat.

If they be two, they are two so 25
As stiff twin compasses are two ;
Thy soul, the fix'd foot, makes no show
To move, but doth, if th' other do.

And though it in the centre sit,
Yet, when the other far doth roam, 30
It leans, and hearkens after it,
And grows erect, as that comes home.

Such wilt thou be to me, who must,
Like th' other foot, obliquely run ;
Thy firmness makes my circle just, 35
And makes me end where I begun.

Not not my valedictory opus... Just like the plaintive tone, and the call to fortitude. There's no crying in baseball, dust ourselves off and fight another day.

This is no where as depressing as the non-impeachment impeachment.

You're preaching to the choir around these parts. The biggest problem you have is something the politicians themselves have caused, and that is a disconnect from the voters.

We keep screaming and hollering out here along the fruited plain, the politicians continue to do the stupidity we keep yelling for them to quit doing. They apparently aren't listening to the calls, voicemail, reading their faxes, or e-mail. Cutting off funding to the GOP is counterproductive, because if enough of us do that, it will put the Democrats at a distinct advantage financially.

Yes, there is little glamour in the door-to-door trenches. It involves getting out of our "comfort zone" and out into the real world.

If we don't we are merely fooling ourselves with false hopes.

And we must ALL be involved. Go for it, Miss Behave!

The NEA is indoctrinating our kids just like Mao indoctrinated every Chinese child. We must create constant pressure, constant anti-propaganda (communicate the TRUTH) !

Your sentiment is shared.  I started my assaults in the 70's.  We're getting impatient as we haven't this much 'worthless' power before.  Rush has been trumpeting correctly that republicans know how to fight uphill but don't know how to handle this same elected power.

Remind yourself that although we may be losing battles, a lot of them, we've been the winning the war over the last 40 years and it is just getting started.

The enemy is not dems, they are already dead.  The enemy is our own weakness.

Well and truely stated. A loss by default is still a loss, however. Why is the GOP so awful at consolidating victory into power?

Cutting off funding to the GOP is counterproductive, because if enough of us do that, it will put the Democrats at a distinct advantage financially.

I don't see it that way. I'm not mad at the GOP over the recent mess, I'm mad at the 7 dwarfs and I don't want a penny of my money going their way. I plan to send money to the candidates I do support or find of strategic value across the country. And I plan to tell the GOP every time they call or write that I will resume contributions when they give me the option of excluding red state Republican's who betray the voters who gave them the majority. (See how reasonable I am compared to some...I don't hold Snowe, Collins or Chafee to the same standards. I don't think we are at that point :)

I don't do this lightly, there are only a very few issues that could have moved me to this decision. I saw countless campaign speeches made by the President, 3 in person this last go around. We all know what judicial nominees meant to his election.

You're right about us needing to get out of our comfort zones, Blur. It's so hard when we're under the warm, soft covers, with our favorite jammies on and our retainers in.

But I just may go for it--I enjoyed it before, most of the time, albeit sometimes suffering brain drain--and I was sorry to have to give up my seat due to a move. I have my toe in the water now, swirling it around, checking for warmth. I just may cannonball in...in my jammies and all. :-)

It Be 'Bout The Blur Bump!

Many do get mad for one reason or another, over the smallest things. I'm not mad at the 7 dwarves, nor am I surprised. Disappointed, yes, but I'm not completely mad. I've never donated to an out of state candidate, so there's no love loss there.

Creeping socialism. RINO's are more dangerous than dems because they do have the power and that is why they have to be politically executed first.

You are fortunate to have candidates worthy of donation in your state :)

Here in Michigan the GOP seems, for the most part, to be completely inept. However, recent events have left me more inspired to help get the right person to run against Stabenow. We just can't count on the MIGOP to produce the best candidate.

YES -- I am FURIOUS, that Senator Frist hasn't yet learned how to play the strongarm negotiation tactics necessary to herd the wildcat narcissists like McCain and a few of the conservative Democrats into line. (I think Frist can still redeem himself--if and only if he REALLY GETS MAD)

Frist is fine .. he did the right thing in calling the cloture for Bolton

It's now on record .. Reid and Lieberman went back on their word of honor .. the Dem Party look like obstructionist and the Gang of 7 look like fools

McCain and his gang .. they ticked off the wrong people

Republicans have looooooooooooong memories and they won't forget

And if some do .. many will remind them

FReepers don't even have a clue as to how mad a person can get at RINOs until they've gone through being a party officer only to be betrayed.

I'm a county officer. All of the officers are conservatives. But we have a cabal of older country club republicans who still control all the vacancy committees, and the district captain positions in the county. Basically, they all sit around and have teas and try to make sure that conservatives don't get nominated to anything here in the county. They also hold most of the precinct spots because the precinct committee people don't call anyone before the caucuses, so the couple that have been the precinct captains for 20 years are the only ones that show up at the caucuses and reelect themselves. And the grassroots are very conservative here. It Makes Me Furious.

But this election cycle, we are going around the district captains and the precinct committee people. We have an autodialer and they are going to be really surprised when 20 people show up for their caucus. The precinct captains that won't work will still have their position; but we're going to appoint someone else to do the work.

The folks that walk the precincts are actually not in the party structure. They are young conservatives who are as fed up as I am.

I'm fed up with sit on your ass Republicans whose only goal is to prevent conservatives from having a voice in the party. That's gonna change here in my county in the next two years.
