I liked the way they pronounced his name in "Oklahoma".

Ali Hakim was pronounced "alley hackem" instead of alee hakeeem".

You r so right. I could've written a page more. Green Acres was his opportunity to cash in on who he was and have some fun.

He was the best in The Heartbreak Kid as the father of Sybil Sheperd. He as great with John Wayne in McQueen and the little many movies like with Jimmy Stewart whose name excapes me, (Gotta Live?)

He could really sing too. I remember watching a tv show some time ago in which he sang "Lili Marlene" (unsure of the spelling), and it was so good, I would have liked to have it on tape.

Yorkshire pigs (which is what Arnold was)are only a few months old when they are the size of Arnold Ziffel. And grow fast! They must have had to use 3-4 Arnolds a season to keep him that size.

You are absolutely correct....We raised Hampshire Whites...for slaughter. I'd say Arnold was always around 2-3 months old...After about 6 months they can eat chickens whole and in one bite....

We raised york feeders. We did have one hamp. And she was a mean one. Always popping her mouth at you. The only time she wanted and let you near her was when she was in labor popping out piglets. which she could do in abundance. 18-20 at a time. Once she had 23 We usually ended up taking the excess runts and hand feeding them in the house till they were big enough to put out. In the morning they would jump out of there box, run into my parents bedroom, sit-down and oink till someone got up and feed m. LOL

Our “Arnold Ziffel” was Poland China. She thought she was a dog. Had the run of the place slept on the porch And would greet people when they would pull in.

City people have no idea how close GA was to rural life back in the 60s

They are qute as piglets and very smart... My Dad had one that he raised as a dog...called him "soul brother". He'd run with the dogs and eat with them... I sincerely believe he thought he was one of them....The dogs looked a bit like hogs...Boston Terriers & one English Bulldog. I am so thankful for having grown up with chickens, guineas, ducks, turkeys, pigs and cattle.
