"What do the mullahs think we're going to do if they nuke us? What do they think the consequences for them will be? Are they thinking?"

As usual anything mid-east, must include Israel in the equation. Iran wants to join the club based on parity. The same went with Saddam. Food for thought. A country does not sink the billions of dollars in R&D etc. to build a nuclear weapon with the primary purpose to then give it to some radical group that would use it. We should try to keep things in the proper perspective. Iran wants a nuclear bomb, in order to bolster it's image, provide a means to offset any hostile by Israel on them, and use it for esentially blackmail toward the west. We may tend to forget that they realize we could remove most of their cities and above ground infrastructure by conventional and nuclear strikes. Same goes for NK. And Pakistan had to become a nuclear power to offset India capabilities. Bottom line is it seems a bit absurd to think a country would invest so much into obtaining low yield atomic devices, only to give them to some group to do with it as they please. If anything I would be far more concerned with the badly policed/contained stock piles of Russian nuclear weapons falling in the hands of a terrorist group or being sold under the table to some group. For all we know this may have already happened.

Sure it would --- for trillions of dollars.

I agreed with your entire post except for the above part. There is actually one scenario where a country that spent billions on making and acquiring a nuke, may give it to a rag tag bunch of terrorists. For example, if the country wanted to utilize their bomb and capitalize on their investment per say, they may not want to be implicated in the nuking. For example if they wanted to nuke another county that would completely annihilate them if they knew they were responsable for the nuking. This may have already occurred when apparently a very good middle man was utilized in the Anthrax WMD attack on the US. We still dont know who the middle man even was in that case of WMD utilization.

I think often we forget to think of it from the other side's perspective as well.

If my neighbours were countries like Pakistan and Iraq.. you better believe I would be trying to get my own atomic bomb.
