I loved that cat. It was the best cat ever.

Well, Anubis gave it a run for the money. Anubis was a COOL cat. You know how you buy a cat something and it would rather play with the box?

Not Anubis. Whenever you got it something, it would immediate know just what it was for and how to use it. And it would use it.

Anubis rocked. He was a Maine Coon, HUGE but gentle. He would only strike back if SEVERELY antagonized. When we first got Anubis (rescue, it was an adult), Nefertiti was just a kitten. And Nefertiti harassed poor Anubis day-in and day-out, as kittens will. Anubis just looked at us with these exasperated expressions, but he never struck out at Nefertiti.

Finally, one day, he had had enough. When she mugged him, he smacked her on the head. Not with an open claw, but just a smack.

You could hear it across the room. Sounded like an empty coconut had been struck with a drumstick. Nefertiti looked dizzy and disoriented for about a minute.

And she never mugged Anubis again.

Anubis was a COOL cat.
