Crooks Posing as Police
By Brandon Truttling

A pair of thieves pretended to be the good guys to pull off a bad crime Thursday, ripping off thousands of dollars from a homeowner by posing as police officers.
The real police told Action News they wanted to catch up with the impostors before they could strike again.
According to police, two people posing as police officers approached a southeast Detroit home near Military and Stark Thursday afternoon, then walked up to the homeowner as he was mowing the lawn.
The fake officers told the man a bank was robbed, and that the bank robber had listed the mans home as his address. The lie went even further as the impersonators told the homeowner they needed to check his money to see if it came from the bank.
The two thieves flashed fake badges, and were eventually led into the home. The homeowner gave the impostors a cigar box filled with about $4,000, after which the crooks ran away from the home.
The victim didnt want to go on camera, and was understandably upset.
Police told Action News the fake officers were in plain clothes, and said they did not have a good description of the two. According to police, if a situation arises where you are not sure if a person claiming to be an officer really is with the police, you can always ask for identification, ask for a uniformed police presence, or call 911.
Yeah, right.
Sure you can ask. You can also spend some time in jail, and get yourself a record.
Seems a little suspicious they just happen to con a guy that had $4k stuck away in a cigar box in his house.

Almost like they knew a large amount of cash would be there. I doubt their selection of him was random. Does he have a rap sheet?
Darwinian in nature.
