The Dems were playing them for fools.

Why not? They always get away with it.

"GOP as usual loses!!"

America lost big time today when Bush gave 50 mil to terrorist scumbags.

I am sooooo mad that I am going to vote for Hillary next time.

Because I'd much rather vote for someone who listens to my vote than someones who takes my vote and does what they want.

Kondrake mentioned the possibility that Bush might appoint Bolton during recess, keeping him in until 2006. Also, did y'all hear the scuttlebutt about that "compromise"? Seems the White House was concerned about Arlen Specter. Also, Specter left town just now, leaving the senate without enough attendees to vote.

Specter...how often have we complained about him? Yet they keep him.

I am not, not, not, not happy. The pubs are going to pay for this.

There was a lot of propaganda passed around about how bad the Dems felt about obstructing Senate business.

So, it doesn't matter whether the deal was for Judges or anything else ~ the point is the Dems lied about how they felt about obstructing Senate business and threatening the defense needs of the American people.

The Dems simply cannot be trusted.

Sorry, but the Nuclear Option only deals with judicial nominations. Frist never promised to eliminate filibusters on any other issues or nominations.

Can he use the nuclear option for Bolton? What are his options?

I believe filibusters are unconstitutional no matter if they are used for nominees or legislation. However, there is more of a case for nominees, as the constitution pretty much calls for an up and down vote for each. So if you are going to eliminate judicial nominees, you might as well do so for all nominees.

Recess Appointment!

Bush needs to recess appoint Bolton, and a few judges.

The agreement was for judicial fillibusters - this isn't a judicial appointment.

That's the excuse the Dems will use......sort of like "it depends on what the definition of the word "is" is."

Enough is enough!

The Dems are back to their usual stonewalling here, too:

I believe Frist voted No in order to gain certain rights to call another vote.

You're right, but it has to play that way. One deficiency that the admin and the GOP has consistently had is getting their message out (an obstacle that the left almost never has).

That the agreement with the dems was worthless since it was based on their good will (a tough sell), is clear to most of us.
