If you actually read the court's decision, you'd know that the court found that the infringement wasn't willful. That means it wasn't intentional. So nobody "pulled anything" on the guys who did Stacker. Stacker merely got the patent before M$. That doesn't make M$ the bad guy. Just unfortunate.
