I didn't know his history. The incident Podoherz brings explains it all.

- Order your pilot to defy a Presidential security no-fly zone.
- Personally challenge an Air Traffic Controller to "shot me down".
- Be required to pay a $20,000 fine for interference.
- Then try to disqualify a patriotic American based on temperament and make a crying show of your "conviction".

Can't the people of Ohio recall this nut-case?

is there something seriously wrong with Voinovich? I mean really, the guy tears up at a confirmation hearing, misses the hearings on Bolton;

He wasn't in a crying mood that day. Not his time of the month.

Or Hillary throwing things at the President of the United States - for heavens sake! Besides other assorted actions Hillary has publically imposed on those beneath her.

'Can't the people of Ohio recall this nut-case?'

You are presuming that the same state who elected Voinovich as Governor TWO times, and unfortunately has to claim Kuchinich, is going to do anything that makes sense.

Sometimes I think that this state has multiple personality disorder. The personalities certainly seem to be in disorder a lot of the time.

What an absolutely disgusting display. Is he being blackmailed? Is he losing his mind?

I think when Voinovich finally focused on Bolton last month, he thought he could get some mileage out of being a principled contrarian (or his idea of one). Then he kept on the same tack and began to get more and more criticism from the people who have supported him. Then he could give up because, by god, he was right. It's just a case of digging a bigger and bigger hole. After having his original cranky and stupid moment he should have just dropped the whole thing.

> And he got on the phone with the air traffic controller and said, what are you going to do? Shoot me down?

WTAM radio had the audio clip of this at one time. Voino acted like he was the center of the universe, but there was no whining here, just white hot anger. I think the current crying jag has been brought on by the pressure coming to him from his p.o'd constituents, of whom I include myself.

You would think if Bolton was good enough to be endorsed by the Secretary of State and the President of the United States, Voino would have no problems with voting for his nomination but apparently he knows better.

IMHO, if Voino is having this much emotional trouble dealing with the affairs of our nation he should step down now from his office.

Very nicely put.

If Voinovich had been working in private business, and was caught crying, Trump among others would have fired his ass. The reason: crying is too easily ridiculed with the result that the crier loses credibility and is rendered ineffective. Since he will never be able to regain much respect in the future, for a number of reasons, Voinovich should resign.

Personally, I favor the Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell as a replacement for Voinovich, though I concede that I am an out-of-stater and others may have alternative qualified candidates they would promote.

Is Sen Voinovich afraid that Bolton will do things that lose business for Voinovich, Needles and Dalton, a firm for which both his son and his former Chief of staff hold the titles of MGRM?

Here is more on Hollingsworth (Sen Voinovich's former Chief of Staff) who works for a company associated with VND and who seems to be an officer for VND

The United States Enrichment Corp., a company that enriches uranium for use in nuclear power plants, has hired the firm Compass Consulting Group to track energy-policy developments in Congress. The lobbyists working the account include Ted Hollingsworth, a former chief of staff to Sen. George Voinovich (R-Ohio).

Voinovich is irrational, weepy, and probably retaining water. He is in desperate need of a super strength Midol.

Well, a constituent! Your voice carries more weight!

Remember that line of Tom Hanks' in "A League of Their Own"?
"There's no crying in baseball!"

Voino needs to be told;
"There's no crying in a confirmation hearing! No Crying!"

Such whimpering about his children and grandchildren has no relation to the issue at hand whatsoever! and it set him apart as a very scary person. My wife was listening to it on The Laura Ingraham Show and Voino turned her off badly (and honestly, she's usually fooled by these lame theatrical types)
