The 600 mile race at CHARLOTTE Motor Speedway is the longest race on the Nascar Circuit. Charlotte has been hosting the race since 1960 when Bruton Smith, Chairman of Speedway Motorsports Inc, talked Nascar into bringing the 600 miler to his new track. "Bigger is better" says Smith about the length of this race.
Originally named the "World 600" Nascar's longest race was renamed the "Coca-Cola 600" in 1986.
