As President Bush ad-libbed about Social Security yesterday: "See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."

Bush is absolutely correct to believe that that kind of battering-ram repetition strategy has worked well for him in the past. The problem is that it doesn't make for a particulalry limber stategery when the hard sell doesn't gain him any ground at all, as in the Social Security fight, and consequently he ends up in a rut with little by way of exit strategy.

Republican politicians in Congress must love Bush for his latest series of gaffes.

People are stupid. That's why so many of them fall for Democratic lies and that's also why so many of them are Democrats.

Doing nothing to change Social Insecurity will doom it for sure.
