I've never joined the Republican Party, but thought I would, just to let the Dems know what I think of them.
Changed my mind, though, after CFR. My opinion is that while the Dems stand for socialism and its derivatives, and are taking us in that direction for all they are worth, the Republicans don't stand for much of anything (except occasionally and randomly) and are just drifting with the tide, unawares, towards socialism and its derivitives.
I did vote for W, and would again. I regard him as a straight shooter, a visionary and thus something of a gambler. But I believe at a fundamental level he is not so different from the Dems - he believes that it is up to government to order and arrange society. Which means of course that he is following the French model.
