To me your solution other than to say, "Im not working with the GOP."

You speak truth, brother!
I am amazed at what some FReepers have sunk to.
Absolutely amazed.

"To me your solution other than to say, "Im not working with the GOP.""
I think the GOP's behavior over the past few years has been saying to all of us, "We're not working for you". The Constitution Party seems to have a reasonable platform, though they haven't been tested so far to see if they actually do what they say. Would I come back to support the GOP if it shaped up? Absolutely; but not unless and until it made major improvements in the way it does business. As of right now, the GOP is the liberal-lite party, and that doesn't cut it for me.

This article read like it was written by an angry old lady who complains but couldn't do a better job if they tried.Im sorry, I wont defend what the Repubs have done here (filibuster compromise). You can spin it anyway you like, but we have been sold out. All the time, effort, and money expended to get the Senate makeup we voted for, was just wadded up and thrown back in our faces. If you are okay with that, thats your problem. If it makes you feel better to attack the guy who is questioning the wisdom of defending the betrayal, go ahead. I wont defend it. Our party promised us an agenda we believed in. The agenda begins with the judiciary. This is the main reason we needed the Senate in the first place, our pick for the Bench, remember?? Now we have the Senate we needed and they didnt come through. Yes, there is a time for compromise, but the filibuster issue was not the time for it. The RNC failed us, the Leadership failed us, and it will remain to be seen whether a pi**ed off electorate fails us. No compromise! Or maybe you like seeing the smirk on Bidens face?
And Bobs 1997 seniority date should shield him from calls for his zot, something USUALLY reserved for DU trolls. One of the first members of a CONSERVATIVE forum wonders aloud whether it was all for naught, our work in getting Republicans elected, and some members with considerably less time call for his ouster-THAT was my point..

Well, I have been taking the long view for 40 years - guess I can try a bit longer! :^) Seriously though, the significant problems have only be getting worse. Hope springs eternal...

Look, I'm certainly no fan of open borders and illegal immigration, but Bush didn't suddenly throw open some gate to Mexico that Clinton and every previous president had kept securely padlocked. And while I think Reagan was a great man and president, many here seem to imply that the Republican party and true conservatism were buried with him. But can you tell me his big anti-illegal immigration or anti-free trade initiatives?
Ponit of fact: Read "Reagan Embraced Free Trade and Immigration" @
http://www.cato.org/dailys/06-24-04.html
***
Reagan's record on immigration was mixed. He signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, which included stepped up border enforcement and sanctions against employers who knowingly hire illegal workers. But that legislation also legalized 2.8 million undocumented workers***"
We can argue policy all day and that's great. My point is that it seems we would do well to keep SOME perspective and avoid hyperbole "Welcome to slavery"? and "Worst Prez ever"? Puh-leeze... a non-starter if ever there was one.
If any of us would have said on Sept. 12, 2001 that the the country would be where it is today, we would have called that person crazy.
Perspective, please...

Article to me reads like another typical myopic third party mentality, including the typical splitting of the vote in favor of Democrats.

These republicans have squandered a golden oppurtunity. And all the spin, and attacks here isnt going to change it. They screwed it up..

Ha! I used to be part of the problem...But if I finally saw the light 15 years ago. So, can you hang in there a little longer?
I mean...there has been some progress hasn't there? I don't remember talk radio, internet, GOP control of congress and the whitehouse and most importantly SUVs when Jimmy was President. ; )

I see you've crawled out from under the Murrysville rock once again.
The public has NOT rejected privitization. Unless your position is that people really want to be taxed out their ass?

Republicans have been trying to get things done, but do have these moderates to contend with in their party.
Dealing with the moderates beats creating a bunch of jumping Jim Jeffords as independents.
Third parties have been trouble all along though, their enabling of Democrats and their fruitcake candidates have been nothing but trouble.
Many foster anarchy and call it conservatism. What a crock I have found them to be when they post on this site. Often they can be found backing all vice and illegal recreational drug use in the name of the Constitution for fun.
They are a waste of good air IMO.
