List whatever you want for his accomplishments, his stance on illegal immigration and the damage it's doing to this country far outweighs any positives from his time in office. Thanks to him and his crowd of open border / free trade at all costs this country will pay a heavy price in the not too distant future.

Sorry, President Bush can't be the worst Prez in history. That title has already been taken by his predecessor . . .

enjoy I'll enjoy it if I can one day tell my Great-Grandchildren about the Democratic Party and they snicker asking "you can't be serious!?"
I'll enjoy it if I can one day tell my Great-Grandchildren about the Republican Party and they snicker asking "Oh you mean like Halloween, when we all pretend to be something that we're not?"

"...I remember Bill Nelson..."oh yeah? Well I remember the one and only Bill Nelson, guitar player extraordinaire of the 70's band Bebop Deluxe, and you are not fit to utter the name Bill Nelson.

***do you know that from Estrada or are you just guessing?***
'Just guessing'... I suppose; I put myself in his position... what did he get from the whole process? ...trashed... Bush did not even defend him.

In case you didn't notice, this is NOT a Republican forum -it is a CONSERVATIVE forum.
Amen to that. I, like Bob Ireland, am tired of being screwed, blued, and tatooed by the smooth groined Republicans. Not saying I agree with everthing he wrote, but Bob makes some solid points.

Study the separation of powers...
If you followed your own sage advice, you would learn why it is completely irrelevant that 14 senators got together and decided to decree that the executive branch needs to gain pre-approval for judges before sending their nominations to the Senate for advice and consent.
It is about as significant as 14 senators getting together and declaring that rain must flow uphill.

Yes butno matter how perfectly on principle you leadif you turn around and nobody is there...you aren't really leading. You're wandering off by yourself. That's how I see perfectly principled but never winning parties.
We can not lead if we are too far out front of the population. Leadership is meeting people where they are and slowly but surely taking them in the right direction.
Arguably we haven't done well as well in fiscal areas and with border security...but in others I think it's amazing. Just look at the abortion polls now compared with 15 or 20 years ago.

"Is it the best party to work with to push a conservative agenda forward?"
The Republican party controls two out of three branches of government. The third is more conservative than it's been in at least 70 years (someone posted a fantastic outline of all Supreme Court justices since the 30s the other day). Those two branches of government controlled by the Republican party have given us spending beyond belief, open boarders, a massive expansion of the Dept of Education, an incredible spending increase in Medicare, no reduction in Social(ist) Security, no help with the flow of illegal immigrants, increased Federal government size, increased Federal policing powers and authority, decreased privacy for American citizens, no reduction in the size and authority of the IRS, massive increases in foreign welfare programs, and on and on and on. If this is the best this party can do, then it's no party of or for conservatives, and I hope we can get our act together quickly with a suitable replacement.

Okay. Thanks.
I put myself in Estrada's position and if my personal relationship with the President was intact...I would be willing to take flak for him. It's a risk I would be willing to take if I wanted the job. Just like if I was a soldier, I would have to accept the fact I could be killed defending my country.
Now, if I was Estrada's wife or mother...that'd be another story.

NOT TO WORRY!! He would have to go a ways to beat clinton and carter!
To: Bob Ireland
Bravo Bob Ireland-- I am not a Republican, either, and never have been-- probably never will be, for many of the same reasons.
But not voting is a loser solution. I vote for the best candidate available-- that sometimes means voting for a RINO, but it also means voting for quality people in primaries and third parties when necessary.
There will never be an optimal voting solution for true conservatives.
