Deeds. That's the issue and the difference. The Injuns had no "native lands" because they wandered, killing off all the animals and eating all the plants in one place until they had to wander off to someplace else.
The Europeans had no way of buying property in North America because there were no deeds in the existing backward society.
All a foreigner has to do today (legally) is be a legal immigrant and buy a piece of deeded property.
So, that's the difference.
