BALTIMORE -- The Anne Arundel County state's attorney said yesterday that after an "exhaustive review" he has decided not to prosecute the young white men charged in the beating death of a black Pasadena teenager. Six men originally were charged in the death last summer of Jamahl Jones, 17, outside a party at a home. On May 12, an all-white jury acquitted Jacob Fortney, the first of the men to be tried, of involuntary manslaughter, first- and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. Mr. Fortney, 19, had faced up to 50 years in prison.

Jamahl was a senior at Northeast High School in Pasadena when he and three friends burst into the backyard party, trying to help another friend they thought was in trouble. The group was armed with a handgun, a stun gun and a hammer.

hmmmmmm....

Carl Snowden, a civil rights activist in the county, urged young blacks to "remain cool" over the decision. "It's pretty volatile, and people are pretty angry," he said.

Popcorn time.

So much for that whole innocent thing.

Noticeable in the article is the absence of comments from the jurors. It seems that would have been appropriate.

In a civilized state the two companions would be tried for Jahmal's death. They seem to have broken a few laws on their way to the party.

These days when reading news stories you always have to read very far down into the article to get to the punch line. This article was crafted to make it seem like a group of several white kids mercilessly beat a black kid to death and got away with it, until you get to the above part and realize that there was some serious self defense involved. Whether that was intentional or through pure incompetence I couldn't say for sure, although when it comes to medi type I assume it was intentional.

I guess this author wants to see if he can outdo Newsweek's record for instigating riots.

And this was in the Washington Times. I'd hate to see how the Post or the NY Times reported it.
