You would think that the guy in this case would have seized his opportunity to dump that psycho.

I hope he does. That guy is going no where with that nut case. I hope he comes to his senses.

Your #3. Exactly. The GA county seems like they are doing a false prosecution. Besides, she made those statements to a NM police agency, not a GA one.

"We have a grand jury process, and I believe in it."

Who was it that said he could get a Grand Jury to indict a ham sandwich? So true.

"She sent law enforcement officers on a wild goose case"

No, she didn't.

"She lied to the authorities and broke the law."

She lied to GA authorities? I think not.

They can't do anything. The folks in NM decided to drop the charges, and she committed no crime in GA. There isn't any reason to punish her other than to make themselves look less stupid.

She disappeared without a trace. Without letting anyone know where she was going. Do you honestly believe she thought her family would think to themselves, "Hm, she's supposed to be married in a couple of days, which has been planned for months in advance. But there's no need worry where the bride to is." "Yes, she's suddenly gone. No one knows her whereabouts, but everythings fine."

Just because she didn't call the authorities doesn't mean she wasn't the cause of the problem. One simple note:
"Dear friends and family, I am having doubts about this wedding. I'm calling it off, but am not able to face all of you right now. I'm taking some time away to think about things. Will call you soon. Please don't worry about me. Love, Jennifer.", would've saved everyone grief.

She lied to EVERYONE by saying that she was abducted and sexually assaulted.

Hmmm, I heard something to the contrary... But we'll see. This is more of a real reality-show (don't like them) for me than anything else :)

If what you've stated is true, than it would appeared that the Georgia authorities do not have a leg to stand on.

Not an illegal act. This is America, where people can come and go freely without either permission or leaving behind a travel plan. The people who freaked were her family. Let them pay. This nation of cowards wanting to call out the national guard when the wind blows gets what it panics for. She didn't do squat but split.

She DID NOT tell any Georgia authority that story. Only the New Mexico authorities, who have declined to prosecute. Get your facts straight bfore you continue to make emotional outbursts.

The family did the right thing. They were the ones who were clueless as to her whereabouts.

Jennifer had the freedom to go, but the bride to be was being inconsiderate and irresponsible given the circumstances. I never said that her actions were illegal. Hyperbole is not necessary.

"This nation of cowards wanting to call out the national guard when the wind blows..."?! The wind wasn't blowing. Wow, accusing the family of being cowards, or at least that's what you've implied, is unreasonable. The family did what's natural, given the situation.

Let me ask you a hypathetical: If 18 yr. old Tammy disappeared one day. And her family hadn't heard from her for a few days, would they be "cowards" if they file a missing persons report?

I hope you understand my point. If you don't, I understand yours.

If you had called your family to plan a big gathering. Then suddenly left without saying anything, your family would naturally call authorities.

Thank God there is some sanity left in this world.

I hope she gets jail time.

If she were allowed to get away with it, no telling how many nuts would jump on the band wagon to get attention. I think this is good.

I guess law enforcement has nothing better to do than prosecute this disturbed woman. It was just a couple of months ago when the prisoner got loose in the courthouse and murdered people in a rampage. It seems to me they ought to figure out how to go after real criminals.

shellshocked is quite an approriate name.

When Jennifer gave that false report, do you believe that the NM authorities wouldn't communicate the information to her family back in Georgia, knowing that the family had contacted the authorities back home?

I said that she lied to everyone, I did not specify that she had contacted the Georgia authorities. Do you think she whispered, "Hey, NM officer, I was abducted and sexually assaulted, but let's just keep it between you and I, okay."

You may wish to look up the definition to the word: outburst. Your name is next to it.

Other FReepers may not share the same conclusions that I've drawn, but they've certainly shown a respectible level of public discourse than you have.
