It's official - Owen is confirmed 56-43.
Unofficial suprises -
- Democrats voting "AYE" - Robert Byrd, Mary Landrieu
- Republicans voting "NO" - Lincoln Chafee

I think Bolton's next on the Hit Parade, then back to judges.
Frist does nothing but confirmations if he's smart, and that's a tall order for us to expect.

Best laugh of the day re your comments below after the Nuclear Suppository insertion up McAinal.
"Warner: "Damn, John, you look terrible!"
"McLame: "Cheney just told me if I don't quit F##king around he'll make my stay at the Hanoi Hilton look like a resort."
"Cheney: "Big Time, McLame!"

McCain is a "Level III" Senator...up for re-election in 2011. I think that's why he's feeling so "maverick" right now!!! LOL!! What a wack job...loves the camera.

Byrd votes yes?? Did he have a stroke or something?
Don't tell me Ben Nelson voted no? I thought he was one of the few reasonable "moderates." If he is going along with the far left on this and other nominees then I think the Nebraska GOP should go all out to defeat him next year.

I think Scummee dropped the clue the other day: Circuit judges are different from the Supreme Court which is a life time appointment.
His earlier clue was: We'll stop them ALL in Committee.

Yep. I heard "Byrd - AYE", and no change of vote.

Nothing was traded. The only thing that has changed since last week is three judges and Bolton will likely be confirmed. The filibuster and nuke option threats still exist. Frist just brought Bolton's name up for a vote and Harry Reid wants an extension of time past the 6:30 time to night for debate" on him. He can't stand seeing Bolton being voted on. It's killing the RATS. LOL

The next time the nuke comes up these same traitors will do the same thing. Why wouldn't they? Negative. You've already got two on record as saying they'll vote for the nuke option. That's all you need (IF! Specter and Voiny stay in line. BTW, both voted for Judge Owen's confirmation.) These 14 folks, for a variety of reasons, tried one last compromise.

Good catch.
So, clinton appointed 373 sitting judges. That means that Bush has 372 to go.
Plus several hundred more to make up for all the lousy appointments made before clinton got into office. There are some decent conservative judges in office, but they are badly outnumbered.

Hate to tell you that, but that's exactly what I heard. When the Senate has the roll available, someone will have it up (who knows; I might even be first :-)

Does anyone know why Frist and Lott before him never required the dissenters to conduct any actual filibusters? The threat of Filibusters and the nuke option changes the minds, of the Senate leaders.

The next time the nuke comes up these same traitors will do the same thing. Why wouldn't they? Lyndsey Graham and Mike DeWine have explicitly said that if the Democrats violate the agreement, they will both vote for the nuclear option the next time. I believe that means we would need only one more vote to get to 50.

The real conservatives, I have known in my 66 years are optimists not gloomers and doomers.
