Wilbanks was indicted on one count of making false statements, a felony, and one count of falsely reporting a crime, a misdemeanor, the district attorney said.
The penalty for the felony charge is 1 to 5 years behind bars; the misdemeanor carries a sentence of up to 12 months in confinement, according to Porter.

I think this is a waste of money. Murderers only get a few years these days and this show trial will cost the taxpayer tens of millions.

Wake me up if she's convicted.

I'm afraid I just don't see the point of this. Yes, she made a lot of people waste a lot of time and energy... this is just more waste.

And what should be District Attorney Danny Porter's punishment for wasting taxpayer dollars prosecuting a case that he knows or should know the courts will dismiss for reasons that should be obvious to even the most simple of simpletons. (Here's a hint: According to the Fox Report, the the grand jury in Georgia has indicted her for allegedly making false statements and reporting a false crime to LEO in the State of New Mexico, which is not a crime in any place other than the State of New Mexico.)

I'm so glad to see that time and money is being spent on this horrendous crime. She deserves to have the book thrown at her and do some serious time. We can't have liars running around loose. We need to have court time and space taken up so the really serious offenders can still walk the streets. I think the amount of time spent on her in the media and on forums such as FR is time well spent. We should acknowledge all instances of cold feet brides in the future. The should be held to the flame of our indignation. Do I really need to add ?

I'll be dipped. Took the DA quite awhile to bring the charge. Will be interesting to read the indictment. Think it'll proceed to trial or be plead down? I take "plead down."

I'm surprised.
She will probably be offered a plea deal to avoid jail time. I hope that part of the deal includes getting counseling for a couple of years.

In a related story, Jennifer Wilbanks' fiance was indicted for being a moron. Sean Hannity is expected to be called as a character witness.
