The Seven RINOs Need to go
the GOPNation.com ^ | May 25, 2005 | Bryan Wolfe

On May 23, 2005, seven of our own Republicans broke with their leaders - and their country - by agreeing to a judicial compromise with the Democrats in the U.S. Senate. While this agreement will likely mean a much-deserved up-or-down vote for three of our judges, it puts in continued limo the fate of seven more of President Bush's nominees.

We at GOPNation - as are most conservatives around the country - are furious at these "Republicans" and wish for their eventual defeat in their next election. These "RINOs" sealed their fates by compromising with the enemy, and for this, we need them to pay at the ballot box.

Meet the dwarfs...

Yes, but the spin cycle is on full blast. By this time next week the 7 will be canonized.

The only hope of saving the Republican Party from collapse is to rid itself of these seven Judases.

No way around it.

Even if it takes defeating them at the poles and replacing them with Democrats.

They are a standing insult to all Americans, particularly Republicans, the President and conservatives.

They must be voted out of office - one way or the other.

All agreed except: If we lose 7 Senators we decisively lose the Senate. So let's get a grip. Can we win all these states with whichever second stringer? I know darn well we will not win them all. The fact is that especially in a very liberal state the alternative may be a very liberal democrat. In such a case it's worth having even a liberal republican to vote many times with their party on Senate organization, leadership etc. That is just reality.

For example, is a conservative republican going to win in Rhode Island? I've always thought this rule change thing was pathetically overblown. They should have just voted and moved on. Let's not self-immolate on our side over this now.

BTW, been listening to Lindsey Graham. He better stop mouthing all that liberal BS about "the right" or he's a gonner. I'm already convinced he's a nitwit but maybe he'll wake up.

"Even if it takes defeating them at the poles and replacing them with Democrats."

Most idiotic and self destructive statement I've seen yet. No, replacing 7 Senators with democrats is NOT better. Maybe you'd like 7 Hilary's and then 7 Ruth Bader Ginzburgs on the Supreme Court. Oy.

"Who cares if we become a minorty party?"

For starters, me and maybe the other 300 million Americans who would suffer. If you want to be a minority party what are you complaining about? Oh, I see, the Senate isn't liberal enough. Snap out of it.

What we need to do is replace them with Republicans that think an act like Repubilcans.

Well, as far as Chafee goes the GOP would be better off without him. It's not as if the Senate hangs in the balance and all he does is give the Dems cover, so the media can always point to him and say: "Republicans joined Democrats blah blah blah" (where "Republicans" usually means Chafee). And, he's just gonna get worse after the next election, because he's gonna move toward the left in the general.

The way to become a minority party is for the Republican Party to continue to ignore conservatives except when it needs money, volunteers and votes. Without us, the remaining Republicans are not even a respectable splinter party. We won't stay stupid forever and this joke of a compromise may be what it takes to make conservatives realize that they are Charley Brown and the Republican Party is Lucy with the ball.

You might recall after the 1994 loss by Clinton and the Democrates over 100 Democrates switched parties to Republicans. I'll never forget my local congressman noting this in his speeches as such a great thing.

I kept telling him this is bad because now democrates are running as republicans - and that real republicans cannot run so here we are years later with government proving me correct.

I don't think there's any point in having them get defeated in a Polish election, do you? Wouldn't it be better if we defeated them in the U.S.?

I hardly think it idiotic. What's Idiotic has been their behavior. They accept Republican money, solicit Republican votes, and then conspire with the enemy behind the President's back.

If the only way to remove these people is through that method, so be it.

These seven leftist liberals are the equivalent of officers in an army who refuse to follow the commands of their general. They are worse than useless. They are a detriment to the effective implementation of a Republican agenda.

Very often an entrenched incumbent can't EVER be removed through a Party Primary no matter how obnoxious or onerous their behavior.

If these Quislings have to be flushed from office by using a Democrat, then we should do so. I fully intend to support ANYONE who will replace these individuals. If a Democrat HAS to be the one who replaces them, then it will be easier to remove the Democrat than it will than defeat any of these people in their own party's primary.

I's like to see the National Republican Party refuse to provide an endorsement or funds to these people. What they have done is absolutely unforgiveable. Many people supported Bush in the hopes that a liberal agenda for appointing these activist judges would be defeated. Thanks to McCain, Chafee, et al, this has been made impossible - or nearly so. You can be quite sure these RINOs will NEVER vote to overturn Senate Rules to cahnge the filibusters on judicial appointees.

They are philosophical Democrats.

McCain is acting as though he is President already. HE's trying to set the National Party Agenda and ignore or frustrate the elected President. McCain is not even a Senate Republican Leader - just the Senator from Arizona. Who gave HIM the right to override the wishes of the Administration, the majority of the American voting electorate or the intent of the Constitution?

He must go, along with all his leftist sycophants or they will take over the Republican Party and you can vote for Democrats or Republicans who think like them for office with no real philosophical choice.

So, the bottom line is there is nothing we, as conservatives, can do about it. Shut up, donate your money and vote for the lesser of two evils. Those seven aren't dumb. They know conservatives are more afraid of a moderate Democrat than a liberal Republican. We will all return to the Republican plantation when the next election rolls around.

"All agreed except: If we lose 7 Senators we decisively lose the Senate"

With guys like these on board, what's the difference between having a majority and losing the Senate?

At least if we we're the minority party we'd escape most of the eventual blame for Congressional performance.

Absolutely agree! However, if you will remember when the conservatives tried to sway the Judiciary Committee pubbies to not have that miserable POS Arlen Specter as Chairman, what did the committee pubbies do after the hue and cry and numerous telephone calls? The spineless pubbies showed their true colors and became just ordinary bureaucratic politicians and elected the godawful Specter as Chairman. Does anyone else on FR remember this slap in the face? This latest on the filibuster is just a taste of what Specter has in store for conservatives with all the helep he has at his disposal.

That is what I would prefer.

But I have had it with supporting and voting for Republicans who turn out to act like Democrats.

If I can't get a Republican who acts like a Republican in office, I darn well would rather have a Democrat in there who can be attacked better on a philosophical perspective later and replaced with someone who CAN act like a Republican as well as calling himself one.

Better an infidel than a heretic.
