LOL, yes they are primma donnas. I 'free' feed Lucy, I leave food in her bowl at all times, in the kitchen. Ever since Lucy was a puppy she has had a peculiar habit... she takes a mouth full of food and runs into the living room, puts it on the floor and eats it. Guess that is how she maintains her weight, gets some exercise in while she is eating...LOL, maybe I should give it a try. I never had a dog that did this.
