Holloman Again Sends Stealths To South Korea
POSTED: 8:26 am MDT May 24, 2005
UPDATED: 8:44 am MDT May 24, 2005
ALAMOGORDO, N.M. -- Fifteen F-117A Nighthawk stealth fighters are leaving Holloman Air Force Base this week for South Korea.
The 49th Fighter Wing announced the deployment of about 250 airmen and the stealths Monday.
About 24 stealths and 300 airmen were deployed from Holloman to Kunsan Air Base in South Korea last summer.
Officials wouldn't disclose where in South Korea the new deployment would be going.
The deployment comes as North Korea threatens a nuclear weapons test.
The White House urged North Korea Monday to return to diplomatic talks.

Well, I remember a man I know who once told me, that the technology that we see in the market place today was developed 10 years before.
Even though we heard in the news that the first operational F-22 went into service, that we can only that a guess that we already have sufficient enough amount to use in war.
So what you are saying is ? we have stuff already in operation that is 10X or even 20X more advanced than what the Russian,Chinese,France have ? or do they have stuff that is more advanced than our stuff ?

If you are saying that some of the stuff that we don't know exist that is already in operation, then ? imagine what is being developed or is on the drawing boards.

No, actual production cost is about 5.5 billion. And since one F-22 at 110 million can replace 4 F-15s at 90million, it's a bargain.

I guess I heard wrong ,, I was listening to a TV program ( I think the military channel ) or something, that they were 220 million.
You right, some people would balk at the price, but ? they forget, that the older planes require more man hours to keep flying and maintenance cost, and more support aircraft to follow them.
Yes, the F-22 can do the job, that 4 F-15's can do, and do it Stealthy.
I like what they say about the F-22 on some of these Aircraft shows, " The enemy won't know what hit them " once the missile is about to hit the enemy's plane, the F-22 is already engaged on another and possibly on it's way on the 3 rd target.
The F-22 will have the ability to see it's enemy, but, the enemy won't be able to see him.

You've pretty much summed up the F-22s abilities. The pricing nonsense is that the MSM takes the R&2 cost which is already spent and divides it over the number of planes built. So if we cut back on the number built the price goes up. But he fact is, the money on R&D is already spent. May I suggest checking out www.strategy.com It's a site built around military issues, with views from all over the globe. I know FR is not a good place to talk about these issues.

Missile emplacement
"Sometime between now and the end of September (2004), President Bush will tell Americans that the United States finally has a rudimentary missile-defense system. The announcement will come shortly after the Pentagon activates a handful of interceptors at Fort Greely in Alaska and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. They'll be advertised as capable of stopping a limited ICBM attack from the likes of North Korea."

Do we really want to be informing North Korea as to what forces we have in the region?
I would think that the US would be better served in the region if we didn't expound on this.
Just a thought.

Do we really want to be informing North Korea as to what forces we have in the region? The answer is: "maybe", if we wanted to let KJI know that we mean business.

Is the F-22 that good (4 F-15's?)
Seriously, one F-22 going up against 4 F-15's, the pilots all being equal, the F-22 would win?
How great is that?
