She looks like a winner. Pro life and small government too.
And yes whoever wins the primary wins the seat.
Forgive me as a northern Ohioan from butting in but in my opinion I'm for Anyone but Dewine and possibly the check bouncer.
While both are solid social conservatives, there is a difference between Brinkman and Schmidt.
In 2003, while both were members of the Ohio House of Representatives, they voted on the state budget which included a 20% increase in the state sales tax.
Brinkman voted no. Schmidt voted yes.
This was done after the 2002 election when Republicans campaigned around this state like Ronald Reagan and governed like, well, Bob Taft.
Many people in this state are fed up with with the out of control spending and taxation in this state. After we were told that the tax increase was only going to be "temporary," we find out that only half of it will be "temporary" and the other half will be PERMANENT.
I think it is safe to say many Conservatives, Republicans, and Ohioans would agree that the legislators who voted for the tax increase don't deserve a "promotion."
Schmidt voted to raise Ohio's Sales Tax by 20%. Brinkman voted against it.
Schmidt voted to raise Ohio's Gas Tax by 6 cents per gallon. Brinkman voted against it.
Schmidt sponsored legislation to allow Cincinnati and Hamilton County to raise its hotel tax. Brinkman voted against it.
Tell me how exactly this makes Schmidt a small government conservative.
