I... underestimated the propensity of my people for narrow-mindedness and self-destruction (the Jewish vote for Mrs. Clinton was about 70%)....

Some anti-Semitism is irrational, founded in ignorance, as in Hillary's case....

As a Jew, I share your perplexity. But I have to face it. 75% American Jews voted for Kerry, and that's a big, steady reduction of the Democratic Jewish vote. Four Presidents ago, it was 89%!

Look a little deeper. These people (I'll grant many rank and file beleive what they are saying) are building Hillary's credibility with the Center---the group that wins American Presidential elections. Everything is scripted to the same theme. Hillary will save the Democratic Party from the exteme Left and save the US from the extreme Right (Republicans) The only question is whether McCain will run as someone playing the same role for the Republicans or as Hillary's running mate.
