"You're probably right, but if it looked like the Republicans were going to nominate Condi Rice for VP (I think the democratic convention will again precede the Republican) how do you think the Dems would try to protect their 95 percent share of the African American vote? If any decent part of that vote splits off or doesn't show up it will be an out and out slaughter."
You've got to quit dreaming, you will not get any increase in the black vote by nominating Rice.
Secondly, Pro-Life groups will NOT like Rice because she is a ProAbort. If she is a running mate for Allen, that means that Rice is going to be impossible to beat in the 2016 primary.
The ProLifers will convince Allen not to take Rice Just as they convinced Bush not to take ProAbort Governor Tom Ridge as VEEP in 2000.
Allen will choose a Gov for his running mate, either Owens, Sanford, or Pawlenty (And I don't really care for Pawlenty).
The Seven Dwarfs of the GOP:
McCain -- Vain
Warner -- Snooty
DeWine -- Whiney
Graham -- Shorty
Chafee -- Cokey
Collins -- Moosey
Snowe -- Squishy
He does not support first trimester abortions. He has a 100% pro-life voting record. He has made a statement that he thinks life begins when brainwaves are first detected about 2-3 weeks after conception, which may be where the idea comes in that he supports first trimester abortions. Just look at his voting record, though. That tells the real story.
Didn't you know that George Allen was born in California. He is not from a Confederate family.
I really hope the democrats are stupid enough to make the mistake of trying to label him a member of the old south. If you think they made fools of themselves in 04, just wait.
The more I hear about Allen, the better he looks as a candidate. He's been a great conservative governor and senator -- from the South, but not of the South. Just look at the trouble you're having labeling him. He's going to give the democrats fits.
Hey, I like Allen; I'm just forecasting what will be said about him. These liberals will say and do anything; the truth does not stop them.
Allen may have been born in California, but he spent most of his life in Virginia. More time than the dilettante current Governor has. And by the way, his wife, Susan, is beautiful and very articulate. Another Laura Bush in the making.
Thanks for clearing that up. It sounded odd that he would be in strident favor of up and down votes on judges if he supported the very issue that a constitutional judge could overturn.
But, it didn't stick. Allen knows his history well enough and is articulate enough to deflect that.
He may have had a rebel flag on his wall. But there are no sheets in his closet.
Mike Steele is a name I haven't heard much about. Do you have anything on him a Google wouldn't give me?
