Sure, but I'm still sending Warner (one of my Senators) an email demanding he answer why he is betraying America again and endangering the lives of my children and grandchildren.

I will give my support to Tom Delay and his folks - not the Senate.

I will NOT forget that a move to minority rule has happened

That move happened in 2003. It isn't being tolerated now. The GOP can't cave in until the DEMs again hold firm on their threat to not vote - and they will.

What's going to happen when Rehnquist retires and we have a Supreme Court nominee?

Oh, and has John Bolton been confirmed yet?

Orrin Hatch on Tony Snow's show hates the deal. Says it's not a good deal as all by 3 nominees are being thrown under the bus.

...just standing out of the way while you and millions of others continue to get pi**ed on. Enjoy the shower.

That's pretty much exactly how I feel -- like I just got pi**ed on by the entire GOP.

He agreed to who was going to "negotiate" it, so he's part of it. And as he is the "Majority Leader" (Minority is a better description) then it's his baby. Here's some email addresses to write to:
info@gop.com, Political@gop.com, Finance@gop.com, Chairman@gop.com

Let tthem know how happy we are that we've been sold out yet again.

As of today I am no longer in the Republican Party.

Somehow I have a feeling that all of you guys that say you are no longer Republicans never were. You were just a bunch of frustrated old farts that used the Republican party as cover for your ability to deal with society. You were never going to be happy with the Republicans in power because you just wanted to vote no.

There are a lot of really pissed off people chiming in this thread and I don't blame anyone. Let me just remind everyone of a phrase I heard somewhere: United we stand, divided we fall. There needs to be a way to send a clear message of dissaproval without tossing away the gains made against the democrat/socialist/left without fractionalizing ourselves.

Sorry, I want to squeeze the trigger on every RINO. I want the so-called conservatives to know I am angry. When people don't speak up they think they did the right thing.

The Washington Post doesn't exactly own John Warner. He's actually pretty independent of the Post. John's problem is that he's senile.

If the Post owned him he would have pulled a Vince Foster on us by now so that Governor Warner, who the Post really does own, could appoint a Viet Cong or a YPSL delegate as Senator for the remainder of the term.

Laz-I seem to recall you making a similar statement when CFR was passed and Bush signed it (BTW I thought you were right then). Now, I am not so certain. If we would have used the big stick we would have come off looking like bullies. The Pubbies will probably gain seats in the 06 senate races and the Rats will have to give more and more ground. I understand that you are probably upset on principle, but everyone here knows that sometimes politics come first.

"Hold your powder" --- ???

Point of Order --- I believe you may have mixed your metaphors. "Hold your powder" appears to be the incestuous child of "hold your fire" and "keep your powder dry".

I now return you to your regularly shceduled thread.

What party are you joining?

Not sure, maybe none.
You know, many of our founding fathers weren't too enthused about political 'parties'. Maybe I'll become 'independent'.

And this entire sell-out reflects on how tenuous the White House's influence is over their fellow party members.

Winning is all based on leadership. It is defined as getting your team to function as a unit for a common goal. Be it confirming judges, or winning the super bowl, it requires total team work.

Bill Frist has been saying for weeks that he had the votes. He lied to us. He did not have the votes. Only a real loser claims victory when he knows he faces certain defeat.

It has been obvious for a week that Frist does not have control or the respect of his team. He let the RINOs take over the Senate. Frist does not have the skills to divide and conquer the RINOs. Frist only needed half the RINOS.. He lost them ALL!!!. The RINO's have been running around trying to go belly up for a week. What did Frist do about it, except lie about having the votes?

The second rule of all contests is to use a winning strategy until it fails. The Democrats changed the rules on judicial nominations in 2001. It worked. Frist bluffed and lost. The Democrats will call his bluff 100 percent of the time. They will go for a full loaf on everything and settle for a half loaf. It has been the Democratic strategy since 1932.. Go for the whole loaf... settle for part of a loaf. It is the first time they have made it work when the Republicans had the majority. The Frist leadership is pathetic. He should be fired.

What the Democrats did was ask for "moderate justices". They wanted nothing but "moderate" judges nominated by Bush. They got away with filibustering all conservative nominees. They settled for a handful of conservative judges with only the promise to confirm moderates Justices. While the Republicans agreed to do nothing to stop them in the future.

How could Democrats get away with it? Because the Republican leader could not control his team.

What kind of leader calls for his team to go for it on 4th and inches only to have his team reject his play and punt?

That's not a good analogy - not yet. All of the ominees are now supposed to get a vote. The DEMs have agreed to vote on all of the nominees - up or down, just give them a vote. That is what was asked for, and that is what they say they are giving. "We will not filibuster, unless the nominee is extreme." Well, Myers is on the Senate Exec Calendar, and has to be disposed of. The gang of 14 does not control when the nominee comes up for debate and a vote.
