"It'll be hard for me to support a pro-choice candidate. But I'll support her over McCain (since I don't consider him pro-life)"

There are several issues I have with Dr. Rice.

I like her general intelligence, and support of the 2nd Amendment.

But I am concerned that, indeed, she was asleep at the switch on 9-11. How was she so ignorant of the Phillipines Al-Quaeda arrest? Just because George Tenet and Richard Clarke failed to brief her? Or Xlinton brief GWB? Give me a break. ANY adult would know going into that situation that they needed to ASSUME the WORST. Particularly when it comes out that NONE of the "Gore Airline Safety Commission" recommendations had been implemented. That the ball had been dropped, and terrorists were already amongst us thanks to the prevaricator in chief. And that planes would be used as cruise missiles...just as the Phillipine police warned us.

She has gone along with the rehabilitation of the Xlinton's by her boss.

She has shown she lacks solid conservative ideology, being more given to "containment" rather than "victory" (war-winning) strategy. Rather than being an intellectual heir of Reagan, she is more warmed-over John Foster Dulles.

When they fire up "Americansforareaganrepublican.com" let me know. Until then I'll plan on doing what I did in 1976: forget about the national ticket and find conservative house/senate candidates and support them.

"If you can see the individual's silhouette, he or she is viable. Condi is enveloped in darkness."

Is this a description of a "dark horse" candidate?

"In the last week she has brought nothing but shame to our country."

How has Condi Rice brought shame to our country?

I was using Reagan's shadow for this metaphore. She does not carry enough conservative principles or relevant experience to come through.

I did not mean for it be interpreted as such.

I agree with you that she wouldn't be able to unite the Reagan coalition, and that's her downfall. However, I want to point out that the RINO accusations are totally out of control on FR. If FR were around in the 80's, Freepers would have been calling Reagan a RINO and saying that they refuse to vote for him because he can't do 100% of what you want on one issue or another.

I read the entry, "Submission of the Infidels." In fact this article and the other articles written by the blogger (?) at this site express many of my thoughts. In fact, I have written in the Free Republic words that were close to what was expressed in some of the entries. What I could not find was what words by Condolezza Rice that prompted the comment that she was a traitor to her nation. There was no support for that statement. I am almost thinking I have to go outside and look under some rocks to find that one thing that makes Condolezza Rice so wrong. The other things in that entry were good and I could not have written them better.

The link to her statement was in the comments section I believe.

I understand it was harsh, but appeasement is not something we should take lightly and surely never appeasement in response to violence and intimidation.

Thank You for your kind comments.

I agree and would not classify her as a RINO in the order of Chaffee or Collins.

You'll never get a candidate you can agree with 100% of the time. Example would be Giuliani - I disagree with almost all of his social views which are very important to me and most conervatives. But working in NYC I was willing to put that aside after seeing what he did. I could even support him for governor if he could help the Medicare spending problem and lower taxes.

On a local or state level and living in a blue state I can tolerate a lot because the impact is direct (lowering taxes being paramount). But on a national level I cannot support someone like Giuliani because of that same level of disagreement I was willing tom overlook and thus I could not support Condi because she has no legislative experience and does not hit some important planks in the Reagan platform.
