This was written by a columnist on May 15th:

WASHINGTON - By the end of the week, the Senate could go nuclear - unless a handful of moderates find a way to reach what has so far been an unreachable compromise.

After months of buildup, Republicans say they finally are ready to trigger the "nuclear option" to ban filibusters that block judicial nominations, paving the way for the White House to reshape the federal courts and, in the process, ignite a political free-for-all in the Senate.

___

I will tell you now before it happens . . .

The U.S. Senate will NOT go nuclear. We will see Iran go nuclear before the Senate ever will.

A bit of history:

Republicans threatened to shut down the government over spending in 1995, but in the end, the Republicans cried uncle and caved-in.

The Republicans caved-in over Ruth Bader Ginsberg's Supreme Court nomination. This Marxist was voted in 97-3, for Christ's sake.

The Republicans caved-in over Marxist Souter's nomination. Not one Republican voted against him.

The Republicans caved-in on border control.

The Republicans cave-in. The Republicans ALWAYS cave-in.

I smell some last minute "compromise" where the nuclear option is not triggered. This "compromise" will be structured similar to Bill Clinton's "compromise" with North Korea over nuclear reactors in 1994. In the end, the Democrats win.

The Democrats always win. The Republicans always cave-in.

The Republicans always cave-in.

You forgot about the Republican cave-in, let by Trent Lott, in not allowing a real Impeachment trial. The House managers were reduced to showing video clips.

"The Republicans caved-in over Marxist Souter's nomination."

Do you mean Breyer, nominated by Clinton, rather than Souter, nominated by the first Pres. Bush?
