I have on occasion. I myself use it all the time. It's just common courtesy to all involved, netiquette, if you will.
Well, like you yourself stated, it's time to hit the sack and get some sleep. I sleep to fight another day. I'm definitely a proponent of directing my comments, sarcasms, etc. directly to the person I am speaking with/about. That's just my personal style. No need to go through third parties, although it humors me, as it is a public forum, and everyone sees both the direct comments as well as the indirect ones, so nothing said is really hidden about anyone at any time.
