You've got to be kidding me!?

This dope has progeny who have also insinuated themselves into public office?

(Audible groan.)

I have heard nothing of this. How could the RINOs commit the WH to anything.

The Republicans has just sacrificed A LOT OF DONATIONS and possibly the '06 elections. Congratulations. Utterly spineless...

Unless I see a huge improvement leading up to '06, I'm sitting that election out. If the Reps want to behave like the minority, then I will just help them out.

I beg to differ. I'd rather have a Demorat controlled Senate than one in which conservatives have no control because of the RINOs in the Party. You're just kidding yourself. You may have a "Republican" majority, but so what?
You have no control of the body, because at least seven of them won't vote with conservative Republicans on most issues, the most important being Judges.

If Republicans put up real Republicans to run, if they win the seat, at least you'll know you've got their vote and you can count on them. Withthis Senate, you can't count on
the RINOs for anything, and that includes, Chafee, the 2 women from Maine, McCain, and 3 or 4 others.

If the most liberal Democrat in the Senate wants you as a VP, you ain't much of a Republican.

I don't know if Graham said this, but Warner certainly did.

"But Sen. John Warner, R-Va., another of the 14, said the bipartisan group is "not trying to set ourselves up as some mini-structure" to challenge the two party's Senate leaders. Asked whether the Republicans who broke ranks with Frist should expect a backlash from conservative groups who had demanded the nuclear option, Warner said, "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen."

Reid could hardly contain his excitement when he said that the nuclear option had been removed from the agenda."

Maybe, but then the Pubbies need better lawyers than they have now, because the language sucks. No judge would find breach of contract when the Dems find Jesus Christ to be unacceptable as a nominee because of extraordinary circumstances. It is a matter of conscience. That is what the language says, and don't let any Pubbie cheerleaders in your neighborhood tell you differently.

The primaries are the time to vote for the most ideal. If that candidate loses to a more "moderate" (I HATE that word) candidate, then come the general election, I vote for the Republican and never the democrat, because, like Ronald Reagan said, "I'd rather have somebody voting with me 60%-70%, 80% of the time, than not all at."

We have to apply Reagan's thinking to states like Maine and Rhode Island, which is why I said that I thought only Graham of SC, Warner of VA and DeWine of OH can be spanked.

They don't, however if the president fails to send them what they want these same 14 senators have already said that they will meet to decide whether they will support the president's nominee.

It's a mixed bag. The GOP is taking a hit from "its base" who thought Frist had the trigger.

The GOP weakings are (rightfully) being blamed for caving in, but we don't know that what is going down with the agreement wouldn't have gone down without it. It sure could have, and I gave it (cloture vote passes) about a 50-50 chance. With the memo, the DEMs get cover for passing cloture on Owen.

But what are they going to do with Myers and Bolton? No way to dodge 'em. They are on the calendar. Do the DEMs agree to vote on the nominees? or not?

McLame: "we have quit being tied to the dictates of the extremists."

No doubt in his mind's eye, Frist is an extremist.

find someone who has good reading comprehension

I thought we were having a reasonable discussion of the issues, you obviously are a half-empty kind of person. Time will tell... Good night and I hope that you at least can hope that I am right that judicial filibusters just became very rare. I certainly hope you and many others are wrong.

You have absolutely no, nada, zilch, bupkiss, understanding of what just took place. You are about as politically astute as a drunk slug in a saucer of beer. I'm really not trying to be mean to you, but you are blind to the facts of this situation.

Nominees should only be filibustered under extraordinary circumstances, and each signatory must use his or her own discretion and judgment in determining whether such circumstances exist.

I have a lot of experiences watching the left. They put clauses like this in so they can do exactly what they want when the want.

The Democrats will filibuster whom they please. The Republicans will not stop them.

I'm not sure about that.

Arlen cannot be happy that the 14 intend to usurp his committee's power, with their separate little meetings to vet any names POTUS submits. Now THAT is my idea of an outright power grab, dare I say coup?

The dems are already going back on the deal: (from http://www.nationalreview.com/benchmemos/064079.asp) Democratic officials said an unwritten aspect of the pact is that two nominees not named in the deal - Brett Kavanaugh and William J. Haynes - would not be confirmed and would be turned aside either at the committee level or on the floor.
