I hear ya. McCain is so pleased with his sorry self. Too smug for my liking.

I still think we won this one.
The democrats have to step aside so we can vote. It's as if they never existed.

But.....I'm very disappointed in the RINO's. They're worthless baggage, and I do not, I repeat, do not have an ounce of respect for McCain!

Seems disappointed but kept it in check as he tried to convince us that had Frist not pushed the dems to this point, we'd be filibustering till the cows came home. Lanny Davis said this is not a victory for any side but for the moderates in this country. He said President Bush will have to CONSULT WITH THESE MODERATE SENATORS IN THE FUTURE, (puke).

Then I would say that Frist never had the votes to approve a nuclear option, if this is the case. It also means 1) Frist has no control over the Rep. caucus, and 2) McCain is the traitor everyone says he is.

The minority appointees were the poison pills. Now, the Dems don't have to deal with them in the PR battle. They won.

They filibustered them. They were forced to allow them a vote. They were called neanderthals by Kennedy. How is this a victory for the Democrats? How can any Republican who will vote for a Bush nominee call that nominee extreme? The Republicans will be forced to vote for the rule change if any nominee who they would vote for is filibustered.

Probably the best time to push the nuclear button was in January. Frist dithered, and we lost momentum.

I haven't read the entire "compromise" but here's my take:

We had a once in a lifetime opportunity to crush the Democrats, but we blinked. We compromised on one of the most critical issues ever!

Why did this filibuster issue never come up when Clinton was in office and we were the minority?

Why do Republicans NEVER have the guts to lead us through the hard political battles to take "Pork Chop Hill"? Why?

The "moderates" are nothing more than sell-outs!

Frist didn't have anything to do with this. It was the traitors - Warner, Collins, DeWine, Snowe, Chafee, et al. Get real. They are the ones who deserve our wrath. Not Frist.

Frist is responsible for giving them an environment that allowed this to go forward. He allowed them to present this to an America who will view it as a positive instead of a negative. He didn't box them in. He didn't get America to align with him on this, and that's his fault. It's Bush's, too.

>>From my perspective, Frist has, up until tonight, herded a bunch of prima donna cats. It sure wasn't his fault that a bunch of them bolted.

Please. If Frist had a molecule of testicular fortitude, the 'Rats would be actually doing a filibuster, and the 'Pubbies wouldn't be cowering at the threat of one.

I'll have to consider your comments. I just got home from being cube-bound, and have yet to hear, let along digest, what's transpired. Thanks.

Well, have to see about that. I am unwilling to toss them overboard at the point, but I am certain willing to look for candidates to challenge them in their respective primaries.

Thank you for your comments. Frist pussy-footed around too long, and the RINOs took control. As far as I'm concerned, the Senate can go back to the Democraps, they control it anyway. Tell the RNC to get screwed: Send them your views at: membership@rnchq.org
