I've thought about that, and I like "run for your lives" as a plan; it's natural and very easy to employ.
If there had been designated areas to assemble, all that prep would be useless as would our best "safety" zones. Imagine the party Newsweek would've had with that.

Sleep tight America, your Air National Guard is on duty. The ANG runs the Northeast Air Defense Sector and the fighters protecting DC are from the DC ANG based at Andrews AFB. (Usually, other units may rotate detachments in and out).
