A U.S. based think tank critical of the Saudi government has added its voice to allegations that authorities in the kingdom routinely destroy Bibles.

"As a matter of policy, the government either incinerates or dumps Bibles, crosses and other Christian paraphanelia," The Saudi Institute said in an article posted on its website.

"Although considered as holy in Islam and mentioned in the Koran dozens of times, the Bible is banned in Saudi Arabia, and is confiscated and destroyed by government officials," it said.

With allegations that Bibles are being desecrated mounting, it makes me wonder that if Newsweek doesn't try and do an article on this, especially since this isn't a 'source' but is named in the article, it makes me wonder(and maybe should others) about Newsweek, and if they do have an agenda.

I have started my rioting by taking a nap. When I wake up I will get a beer and have forgotten about it. Now if I was in the "religion of peace" Buddy, I would be out hacking and a slashing!

What are they so afraid of that the Bible is considered illegal?

They may have an agenda, but that's irrelevant in any case.

They do however, have a finely honed sense of self-preservation...
So don't hold you breath.

Not too long ago, infidels had to be out of Riyadh by sundown. KLM maintained an office in Riyadh. KLM's logo, you'll remember, is a crown, topped by a cross. The enlightened clergy in Riyadh demanded that KLM remove the cross from their logo, and of course the Dutch complied. Cynics would say that to be kicked out of Riyadh is akin to being thrown in that briar patch. I landed at Riyadh in August 1981 aboard a USAF C-12 and stepped out into 140 degree heat. It was like sucking flames.

How fortunate for the Wahabbis...when they eventually met up with their spritual leader they'll feel right at home.

I think you are right, but I have a feeling it will be much hotter than 140 degrees.

"... you s(h)ould be more concerned about your "friends"."

I assume you might mean Saudis when you say "friends". The Saudis are NOT our friends. Only because we are a customer for their oil do they "pretend" to be "friends". It is high time we recognized them for what they are - anti-American, supporters of OBL, supporters of the Palistinians in their terrorism toward Israel, etc etc etc. The Saudi regime is an evil supporter of Islamofacism. MHO.
