...there's "no way" that new districts could be drawn in time for the 2006 elections, and that because of near-certain post-election lawsuits, it's questionable whether they would be in place by 2008 - pretty much what Schwarzenegger's own aides have been saying.

So, if the dates aren't achievable, isn't the whole initiative flawed, as written? The proposed law says the Special Masters are appointed within 20 days of the law going into effect to draw districts "for use in the NEXT set of statewide primary and general elections ."

A reminder. When dealing with people like Schwarzenegger, or any liberal, it's not the facts that matter. It's the seriousness of the charges/intentions.

....or if you're a big tent Republican ... and you throw enough dodo against the wall, some of it will stick and your conservative base will probably still support you because your intentions were noble.

...or if you're on the Wilson team ... there is now a basis for a plausible denial which means the center will still support you because you didn't really harm the left.
