Yes, they are, I have friends in the Coast Guard who are there now.

About 1 year ago the 1st Coast Guard war casualty, since Viet Nam happened.

But the fact is the men and women in the Coast Guard face more day to day danger than just about any other service.

Think 10'-30' waves on a 47' boat, on a search and rescue mission.

This occurs daily.

Here is a perfect example of what the Coast Guard faces everyday.

The crew ( 3 men 1 woman) on this case received medals about 6 months later.
