Ummm .. isn't it normally procedure to wait until an investigation is completed before telling he detail of what happen?

Let's say that the facts came out a day after the accident. How would that have changed anything?

What were they supposed to do, keep him on ice until the investigation was finished? Does his death by friendly fire somehow diminish his courage and dedication?
