The Libranos Strike Back (Canadian Journalist sued by Prime Minister's Office)

The Libranos Strike Back II

Further to events of this morning; Reading Coyne's column again, can anyone point me to a passage that accuses Tim Murphy of committing a crime?

You know, among my first thoughts in reading this were that the National Post is a big place, with lawyers and whatnot, to vet columns before they run. Are we assuming too much in thinking this column is the target, or if it is, is this just a ham-fisted attempt by Murphy to intimidate the leading critic of Papa Paul - and more importantly, the powers that be who publish him?

Pure conjecture on my part, I'll readily admit. But now that I'm in conjecture mode (and the first beer I've ever consumed before dinner hour since I turned 17...);

Recall the threats to bloggers for linking to Captains Quarters - and for all the crowing of the blogosphere, that threat was successful - several bloggers fell into line and delinked, while almost all in the mainstream followed suit. For all the pomposity of our press, they are willing litlle sheeple like the rest of us when it comes to, you know - actually taking risks for the truth.

A very long time ago, before I first ventured onto the blogosphere, I speculated that the core difference between Americans and Canadians wasn't "a more European world view", or medicare or our "cultural mosaic".

It is the singular fact that Canadians have never had to fight on their home soil for the right for their nation to exist. We had no Indian wars, no Canadian revolution, no civil war. No Pearl Harbour, no 9/11.

I think that fact alone explains the national angst about "Canadian identity" more than any other. We don't know how to fight, truly fight for what should be our inalienable rights.

Andrew Coyne of the National Post
a Canadian journalist
on the forefront of the fight against the gangster government of Canada
is being sued by the Prime Minister's assistant.

Coyne's blog is one of the most widely read in Canada.

Just today he removed all comments from his blog.
This likely is the result of intimidation by the Prime Minister's office.

The Canadian Librano government is on the warpath
against what little remains of free speech in Canada.

There is no First Amendment in Canada.

With this Liberal government in power, that will prove to be a very bad thing.

If Canadians will not fight for themselves, then they are lost. Perhaps Alberta and/or Quebec will try and secede, bu the odds look very long. Regarding blogs, if there remains a will to protest, at least through the internet, then the US or overseas countries could be used to host the blogs as long as the authors don't live in Canada or are anonymous.

Reminds me of the time Sidney Blumenthal sued Matt Drudge (USA). Blumenthal was a Clinton operative. I don't remember the precise reason for the suit, but Blumenthal ended up PAYING Drudge some money as a result, rather than the other way around.

Since I don't know all the facts about Coyne or Murphy, I'll suspend judgement on who should pay whom in this case.

The Canadian Liberano government is on the warpath against what little remains of free speech in Canada .

I had just got my copy of the Toronto Star. On Sunday it has the advantage of being decently sized and priced. It still may have some decent jounalism left in it.

Page A4 has Graham Fraser (National Affairs Writer), informing us of The man who (really) saved the government. Surprise, surprise. It is one Tim Murphy. He is a lawyer of course. The article ends with this: .....sums up Murphy's earnest idealism- and his ruthless partisanship .

I would call him a man utterly devoid of even a sneaking sense of fair play. Devoid of principle, a shameless manipulator- a Liberal war room Johnny.

I don't know all the facts about Coyne or Murphy

Tim Murphy
the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff
(not just assistant, as I wrote)
was tape-recorded by a Conservative Member of Parliament
apparently he was hinting at an offer to the MP and his wife
(also an MP)
of a Senate or some other position
in return for an abstention on the recent vote of confidence.

In principle such an offer is a criminal act in Canada.

Parts of the tape were played on national TV
and published in various papers.
Leaders of the NDP and the Bloc Quebecois have called for an investigation by the RCMP.

Andrew Coyne wrote a column about the affair
merely emphasizing some of the passages in the tape.
Coyne is a highly regarded moderately conservative writer.
So far no action has been taken against anyone except him
though I hear today that the PM's henchman is threatening
to sue the leader of the Bloc Quebecois, Gilles Duceppe
(but not the leader of the NDP, Jack Layton,
who supported the government in the non-confidence motion).

That's it, in a nutshell.

There have been armed rebellions in Canada by those seeking more freedom. They all lost.

Read this from Being American in T.O.

And look for the post above that says....

Andrew Coyne speaks

May 23 - In case anyone hasn't checked his website, Coyne has a new post up which links to the Toronto Star's Graham Fraser on the Grewal-Murphy tape and notes," Funny, that's just what I said."

You will be assimilated!!!!

NDP Socialist spouse was able to solve the "puzzle"- re assimilated. A Star Trek buff, she quotes also, "resistance is futile". BORGS to Enterprise. Problem here though. I just love a newspaper with my morning Timmys. The National Post which is reserved for me at the local convenience store did not publish.

Oh well, I swelled the coffers again and bought the Toronto Star yet again. The header is of the battle tomorrow- as you will know. The bye-election in Labrador. Unfortunately (for our American friends) the Liberal MP died last December. He had 62% of the popular vote. Lovely willowy blonde Belinda Stronach campaigning there - for her new "boys". Do they really need her? (laughs).

I cannot wait for good old Andrew Coyne in the National Post tomorrow. Cheers.

LOL. Please tell her the Borgs lost in the end. LOL

I just love a newspaper with my morning Timmys.

Which is as good a reason as anything not to read, or even touch, let alone pay for, the red rag! ROFLOL.

I cannot wait for good old Andrew Coyne in the National Post tomorrow. Cheers.

Want me to send you an old Zell Miller book, for Sundays? LOL

Have a great weekend. :-)

You should check out the Sunday Sun instead. Lots of good reading and unlike the Star, the content isn't dictated by Liberal HQ.

You should check out the Sunday Sun instead.....

Will do just that- just never crossed my mind. The local convenience store named "Peter's Place" (no relation) certainly displays these papers. A better reward than lottery tickets- if one has regard for one's mind. LOL
