There hasn't been a successful draft campaign since the days of brokered conventions. It's not going to happen now. If she wants to run, she'll have to run.
Not only that but I feel strongly that you can't have run a candidate for president that has never been in an election campaign. Way too many landmines out there. It's not anti-black or anti-woman to say Condi needs to get some campaign experience before running for the biggest job in the world.
If you thought the Dims and the MSM were racist and rude to her at her confirmation hearings, you haven't seen 1/10th of what they would do if she was the Republican nominee for president.
Allen sounds like the best of the field right now but I'm not sold yet.
The way it would work is that she'd be drafted to run, like Wesley Clark and Ross Perot. There would be a huge amount of interest in this scenario and then she'd announce she'd jump into the race in the fall of 2007. I'm not sure if she could raise the cash she'd need that quickly, though. That would be the only issue.
I understand why she wants to focus on her job as Sec of State. It is incredibly important right now. She is young enough to take the VP slot and later go for number one.
Exactly right. The Presidential primary system rules out the possibility of a draft candidate or brokered nomination unless the the other candidates don't have a majority going into the convention.
